Every Day With Jesus
''Every Day with Jesus'' is a Christian daily devotional publication. It has a global circulation of approximately a million readers. Christian minister Selwyn Hughes started writing the publication in the 1960s, first as a devotional aid for his congregation, and subsequently as a regular periodical published by the Crusade for World Revival (CWR), a Christian training and publishing organisation that he founded. Since Hughes's death in January 2006, CWR has continued to publish it regularly using materials gathered from his writings over the last 40 years, in accordance with his wishes. The format of the publication is a small booklet about 12 cm x 17 cm, with one page per day. Bible Study (Christian)
In Christian communities, Bible study is the study of the Bible by people as a personal religious or spiritual practice. In many Christian traditions, Bible study, coupled with Christian prayer, is known as doing devotions or devotional acts. Many Christian churches schedule time to engage in Bible study collectively. The origin of Bible study groups has its origin in early Christianity, when Church Fathers such as Origen and Jerome taught the Bible extensively to disciple Christians. In Christianity, Bible study has the purpose of "be ngtaught and nourished by the Word of God" and "being formed and animated by the inspirational power conveyed by Scripture". Selwyn Hughes (27 April 1928 – 9 January 2006) was a Welsh Christian minister best known for writing the daily devotional ''Every Day with Jesus''. He founded the Christian ministry Crusade for World Revival (CWR) and wrote over fifty Christian books. George Carey, the former archbishop of Canterbury, described Hughes as a "giant in the faith". Life Hughes was born in Fochriw near Caerphilly in Wales on 27 April 1928. He worked for some time as a miner in the Welsh coal mining industry, but left his job to study Theology in Bristol when he became convinced that he was being called by God to work as a Christian minister. After his ordination he worked for eighteen years as a minister in pentecostalist churches in Cornwall, Wales, Yorkshire, Essex and London. In his biography, Hughes recalls the time he was sent home from Bonsall Camp for bad behaviour.
