European Union Of The Deaf
The European Union of the Deaf (EUD) is a supraorganization comprising each respective National Association of the Deaf of the member states of the European Union. The EUD is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 and is a Regional Co-operating Member of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), a full member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and has a participatory status with the Council of Europe (CoE). Ten countries were present at this meeting. During the assembly of October 10, 1994, the delegates of the deaf associations in Europe voted for a change of name: ECRS was thus replaced by the European Union of the Deaf (EUD). EUD's goals include equality for Deaf people in employment, education, and public as well as private life, and the right to use indigenous sign language. Belarusian Language
Belarusian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language. It is one of the two Languages of Belarus, official languages in Belarus, the other being Russian language, Russian. Jock Young (deaf Rights Campaigner)
John "Jock" Young (1926–2005) was a British deaf rights campaigner. He was deaf and a British Sign Language user. Early life Jock Young was born in Glasgow and received his education at the Glasgow Institute for the Deaf in Langside. He had ambitions to become an electrical engineer, but after leaving school he was sent for an apprenticeship to a shoe maker and repairer. After completing his apprenticeship, he got a job for the shoe repairing firm Napier's. He then took a job with Singer in Clydebank as a night shift supervisor, and then for Rolls-Royce in Hillington. Young then took a part-time role as Youth and Community Officer for the Glasgow and West of Scotland Society of the Deaf, and then was hired as Social Work Assistant for the Edinburgh and East of Scotland Society of the Deaf, role he kept until he retired in 1991. Irish Deaf Society
The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) is the national representative organisation of the Deaf community in Ireland. It upholds the status of Irish Sign Language (ISL), which is the first and preferred language of Deaf people in Ireland. The Society, a growing and vital organization, provides a number of specific health, personal and social services to deaf adults, children and their families. The DGB was created shortly after World War I and was inspired by the deaf movements happening in British countries. The symbol of the DGB is a narwhal. Deafness in France is about the experiences, education, and community of deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) people in France. The history of DHH people in France is long.
