European Partnership For Democracy
The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) is a membership-based network of not-for-profit organisations that describes its aim as "supporting democracy around the world". EPD is composed of nineteen European organisations with activities in over 140 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. It is the most important European network of specialised organisations actively involved in democracy support. EPD Secretariat is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. Creation The European Partnership for Democracy was created in April 2008 with a strong role played by the Central and Eastern European countries that had become full members states of the European Union in 2004. Human Rights And Democracy Network
The Human Rights and Democracy Network (HRDN) is an informal grouping of 43 NGOs operating at the EU-level in the broader areas of human rights, democracy and peacebuilding. It was created in 2004 and mainly operates in Brussels. Purpose HRDN aims at influencing the EU and its Member States’s policies and funding instruments to promote democracy, human rights and peace: ‘HRDN’s vision is that human rights and democracy are placed at the heart of the EU's internal and external policy agenda. People in Need (PIN) ( cz, Člověk v tísni) is a Czech nonprofit, non-governmental organisation based in Prague, Czech Republic. PIN implements humanitarian relief and long term development projects, educational programmes, and human rights programmes in crisis affected regions internationally. Its director is Šimon Pánek. As of 2022, PIN operates in 33+ countries. In the Czech Republic, PIN runs social integration programmes and provides informative and educational activities. The Oslo Center was founded by former Norwegian prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik in January 2006. The purpose of the center is to work for world peace, human rights and inter-religious tolerance worldwide. The center cooperates closely with the Carter Center in Atlanta, the Kim Dae Jung Library in Seoul and the Crisis Management Initiative in Helsinki. The European Commission (EC) is the executive of the European Union (EU). It operates as a cabinet government, with 27 members of the Commission (informally known as "Commissioners") headed by a President. It includes an administrative body of about 32,000 European civil servants. The Commission is divided into departments known as Directorates-General (DGs) that can be likened to departments or ministries each headed by a Director-General who is responsible to a Commissioner.
