European Association For Research On Learning And Instruction
The European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) was founded at Leuven University (Belgium) in 1985 to support research in the field of learning and instruction. The association's main activities include a Biennial, international Conference, support of research groups such as SIGs, E-CER and EFGs and journal outlets for educational researchers in Europe. This non-profit membership association has about 2,500 members from over 60 different countries, both European and beyond. The five best represented countries within EARLI's membership are Germany, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States and Finland. Researchers can join the association through annual membership. On top of their general membership, EARLI supports several Special Interest Groups (SIG). These SIGs allow a smaller group of EARLI members to discuss specific educational themes. Roger Säljö
Roger Säljö (born 2 April 1948) is a Swedish educational psychologist whose research presents a socio-cultural perspective on human learning and development. Säljö is a professor of education and educational psychology at Göteborg University and was president of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) between 2005 and 2007. Robert Glaser
Robert Glaser (January 18, 1921 – February 4, 2012) was an American educational psychologist, who has made significant contributions to theories of learning and instruction. The key areas of his research focused on the nature of aptitudes and individual differences, the interaction of knowledge and skill in expertise, the roles of testing and technology in education, and training adapted to individual differences. Glaser has also been noted for having developed the idea of individually prescribed instruction as well as making major contributions to the theory of adaptive education. Monique Boekaerts
Monique Boekaerts (born 1946) is a Belgian educationalist. She was a professor of pedagogy at the Radboud University Nijmegen (1980–1990) and Leiden University (1991–2011). Career Boekaerts was born in 1946 in Belgium. She studied psychology at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, obtaining a degree in 1974. She obtained her PhD at Tilburg University in 1978, with a thesis titled: "Towards a theory of learning based on individual differences". She was a professor of pedagogy at the Radboud University Nijmegen from 1980 to 1990. From 1991 until her retirement in 2011 she held the same chair at Leiden University.
