The Lausitzring (formally known as the Dekra Lausitzring for ownership reasons) is a race track located near Klettwitz (a civil parish of Schipkau, Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) in the state of Brandenburg in northeast Germany, near the borders of Poland and the Czech Republic. It was originally named Lausitzring as it is located in the region of Lusatia, known as ''Lausitz'' in German, but was renamed EuroSpeedway Lausitz for better international communication from 2000 to 2010. The EuroSpeedway has been in use for motor racing since 2000. Among other series, DTM (German Touring Car Championship) takes place there annually. It also used to host the Superbike World Championship. The Lausitzring has a feature which is unique in continental Europe: a high-speed oval race track, as used in the United States by NASCAR and IndyCar. Klettwitz
Klettwitz (; ) is a village in the municipality of Schipkau, in Brandenburg, in eastern Germany, situated in the historical region of Lower Lusatia. History The village was first mentioned in 1370 with the name of ''Cleticz''. In 1815, it became part of the Kingdom of Prussia, within which was administratively located within the Province of Brandenburg. In 1904, the Sacred Heart church was built, mostly funded by local Poles. In 1910, the settlement reached its peak population of 3,544. In the 1930s, some 550 Poles lived in the village, there were two Polish organizations, and Polish language classes and church services were held. After World War II, it was part of East Germany, administratively located in the Bezirk Cottbus. Until December 31, 2001, it was an autonomous municipality merged into Schipkau. 2022 Lausitzring DTM Round
The 2022 Lausitzring DTM round was a motor racing event for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters held between 21–22 May 2022. The event, part of the 36th season of the DTM, was held at the Lausitzring in Germany. For this round, the alternate (and much faster) 4.601 km (2.860 mi) version of the full Grand Prix course was used with Turn 1 being the banked oval turn instead of the usual sharp left turn after the pits. The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-AMG. The car was introduced on 9 September 2014 and was officially unveiled to the public in October 2014 at the Paris Motor Show. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. The Mercedes-AMG GT went on sale in two variants (GT and GT S) in March 2015, while a GT3 racing variant of the car was introduced in 2015. The BOSS GP Racing Series is a motor racing series in Europe. The category originated in 1995 as the BOSS Formula series and evolved into the EuroBOSS Series. BOSS is an acronym that stands for Big Open Single Seaters. History The BOSS series was created by Roger Cowman & Mark Haddon in 1995 under the regulations of the RAC Motor Sports Association and raced mainly in Great Britain. The series grew in popularity and later expanded to Europe, being renamed to ''European BOSS'' (shortened by the competitors to EuroBOSS) following the European expansion and the involvement of Paul Stoddart's European Aviation. Benetton B197
The Benetton B197 is a Formula One racing car with which the Benetton team competed in the 1997 Formula One World Championship. There it was driven by Frenchman Jean Alesi and Austrian Gerhard Berger, who were both in their second season with the team. However, Berger was forced to sit out three races in the middle of the season due to sinus problems, and compatriot Alexander Wurz made his F1 début by deputising for him, starting at the Canadian Grand Prix. Scott Kevin Mansell (born 1 October 1985) is a British former racing driver and YouTube personality. In June 2015, he started the Driver61 YouTube channel, presenting videos primarily about Formula 1 and autosport in general. In July 2021, he co-founded a YouTube channel called OVERDRIVE (formerly Driven Media), which is primarily for experiments with cars and celebrating the engineering of unique vehicles. Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) was a Governing body, sanctioning body for American open-wheel car racing that operated from 1979 until dissolving after the 2003 CART season, 2003 season. CART was founded in 1979 by team owners formerly from the United States Auto Club (USAC) Championship Car division. The owners disagreed with the direction and leadership of USAC.
