They achieved chart success with the singles " Forever Young", " Big in Japan", " Sounds Like a Melody", " The Jet Set" and " Dance with Me". Gold remains the only continuous member of Alphaville. Apart from a few relatively minor refinements and the important later addition of stereophonic sound, it remained the standard format for record albums (during a period in popular music known as the album era) until its gradual replacement from the 1980s to the early 2000s, first by cassettes, then by compact discs, and finally by digital music distribution. Beginning in the late 2000s, the LP has experienced a resurgence in popularity. Format advantages At the time the LP was introduced, nearly all phonograph records for home use were made of an abrasive shellac compou ... ''Salvation'' is the fifth album by German synth-pop band Alphaville and was released in 1997. Three tracks from the album were released as singles: "Wishful Thinking", "Flame", and "Soul Messiah". "The lack of commercial success led the band to return to its synth/dance roots with the following album, ''Salvation''". In 2019 Marian Gold recommended ''Prostitute'', along with the 2017 ''Strange Attractor'', to anyone who only knew Alphaville from '' Big In Japan''. It is the last Alphaville album with Ricky Echolette Ricky Echolette (born Wolfgang Neuhaus) is a former member of the German synth-pop Alphaville, utilizing his role on keyboards, piano and guitars - from 1985 until his departure in 1997.
