Estádio Nacional De Cabo Verde
Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde is a multi-purpose stadium in Praia, Cape Verde. Used for football matches, it is home to the Cape Verde National football team. The stadium has an announced capacity of 15,000 people. It is owned by the government of Cape Verde, and operated by an appointed Commission of Stadium Administration. Following the death of Brazilian footballer Pelé, in January 2023 the Prime Minister announced his intention of renaming the stadium as “Estádio Pelé” in tribute. The intention did not go through. History Funded by the Chinese government, the building started in October 2010, due to be completed in June 2012. A 15-month delay, due to a change aimed at increasing the number of seats from 10,000 to 15,000, moved the planned inauguration date to October 2013. Eventually the stadium was opened in August 2014. Artificial Turf
Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass, used in sports arenas, residential lawns and commercial applications that traditionally use grass. It is much more durable than grass and easily maintained without irrigation or trimming, although periodic cleaning is required. Stadiums that are substantially covered and/or at high latitudes often use artificial turf, as they typically lack enough sunlight for photosynthesis and substitutes for solar radiation are prohibitively expensive and energy-intensive. Disadvantages include increased risk of injury especially when used in athletic competition, as well as health and environmental concerns about the petroleum and toxic chemicals used in its manufacture. Artificial turf first gained substantial attention in 1966, when ChemGrass was installed in the year-old Astrodome, developed by Monsanto and rebranded as AstroTurf, now a generic trademark (registered to a new owner) for any artificial tur ...

It replaced the Cape Verdean real at a rate of 1000 = 1 escudo. Until 1930, Cape Verde used Portuguese coins, although banknotes were issued by the Banco Nacional Ultramarino specifically for Cape Verde beginning in 1865. Until independence in 1975, the Cape Verde escudo was equal to the Portuguese escudo. Subsequently, it depreciated, declining by about 30 per cent in 1977–78 and by a further 40 per cent in 1982–84. Thereafter, it remained fairly stable against the Portuguese escudo. In mid-1998 an agreement with Portugal established a pegged rate of 1 Portuguese escudo = 0.55 Cape Verdean escudos. Since the replacement of the Portuguese escudo with the euro, ...
