Eesti Televisioon (ETV) ( en, Estonian Television) is an Estonian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Estonian Public Broadcasting. It made its first broadcast on 19 July 1955. History Eesti Televisioon (''Estonian Television'') was launched on 19 July 1955. Before that, television broadcasts in Estonia could only be received from Moscow. The very first Estonian-language TV presenter was Ofelia Mikk, whose debut was in the 19 July 1955 test broadcast. Her tenure in television was cut short, because she misspoke out of nervousness. The first tenured presenter for the nascent ETV was Ruth Peramets-Püss (1927–2005). To find a presenter, a casting competition was held in 1955, but no suitable person was found. By chance, a film in which she starred, was aired on ETV on the day of the competition, and so she was hired. Vambola Krigul
Vambola Krigul (born 12 April 1981 in Tallinn) is an Estonian percussionist, chamber musician and singer. Krigul studied flute, percussion instruments, clarinet and saxophone at the Nõmme Music School. After graduating from the Tallinn Music High School in 1999 he continued in percussion classes Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he graduated from in 2004 with a bachelor's degree and in 2006 in master's degree. In 2000, he reached to the final in Eurovision Young Musicians. The same year, he founded the percussion ensemble PaukenfEST. He is a member of chamber choir Voces Musicales, and he is a bass singer of sacral music ensemble Heinavanker. Krigul has performed with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra since 2000, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of Estonian National Opera since 2002. Estonia made its debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the in Nice, France. Estonian broadcaster (ERR) were responsible for the country's participation, and selected Arhanna Sandra Arbma as the first Estonian representative for Junior Eurovision. Estonia finished in second-last place, scoring 49 points. ERR had previously broadcast the contest in and . History ERR broadcast the first two editions of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and 2004, but did not participate because it would be too expensive. Estonia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 27 times since making its debut in 1994. Its first appearance would have taken place in 1993 but a qualification round was installed for seven former Eastern Bloc countries hoping to make their debut in the contest, with Estonia failing to qualify. Estonia has won the contest once, in 2001. Estonia's first participation in 1994 was unsuccessful, finishing 24th (out of 25). Tanel-Eiko Novikov
Tanel-Eiko Novikov (born 3 June 2000) is an Estonian classical percussionist, playing marimba and xylophone. He represented Estonia at the Eurovision Young Musicians 2018. Novikov studied percussion at Tallinn Music High School under Kristjan Mäeots. The Eurovision Young Musicians 2016 was the eighteenth edition of the Eurovision Young Musicians contest, which took place on 3 September 2016, outside the Cologne Cathedral, in Cologne, Germany. Marimba
The marimba () is a musical instrument in the percussion family that consists of wooden bars that are struck by mallets. Below each bar is a resonator pipe that amplifies particular harmonics of its sound. Compared to the xylophone, the timbre of the marimba is warmer, deeper, more resonant, and more pure. The Eurovision Young Musicians 1994 was the seventh edition of the Eurovision Young Musicians, held at the Philharmonic Concert Hall in Warsaw, Poland, afterwards the last year's contest, winning country, Bartłomiej Nizioł performing the violin instrument, dated between the 9 and 14 June 1994.
