Estonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2017
Estonia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Verona" written by Sven Lõhmus. The song was performed by Koit Toome, who had previously represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 where he placed twelfth with the song "Mere lapsed", and Laura, who had previously represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 as part of the group Suntribe where she failed to qualify to the final with the song "Let's Get Loud". The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2017'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Vanilla Ninja
Vanilla Ninja is an Estonian all-female rock music, rock band which enjoyed chart success in a number of countries across Europe, especially in Estonia, Germany and Austria. The group formed in 2002 and released their self-titled debut album ''Vanilla Ninja (album), Vanilla Ninja'', containing songs in both English and Estonian, the following year. Switzerland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Cool Vibes", written by David Brandes, Jane Tempest, and John O'Flynn, and performed by the band Vanilla Ninja. Estonia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song "", composed by Priit Pajusaar, with lyrics by Kaari Sillamaa, and performed by Maarja-Liis Ilus and Ivo Linna. The Estonian participating broadcaster, (ETV), organised the national final 96'' in order to select its entry for the contest. Thirteen songs competed in the national final and "" performed by Maarja-Liis Ilus and Ivo Linna was selected as the winner by a jury panel. Estonia was announced among the top 22 entries of the qualifying round on 20 and 21 March 1996 and therefore qualified to compete in the final which took place on 18 May 1996. Ivo Linna (born 12 June 1949 in Kuressaare) is an Estonian singer. Eurovision Song Contest and Eesti Laul He represented Estonia alongside Maarja Liis Ilus in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 in Oslo with the song " Kaelakee Hääl" (The Sound of a Necklace) which finished 5th at the contest. Piret Järvis (born 6 February 1984 in Tallinn) is an Estonian television host and a singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the popular rock band Vanilla Ninja. Born to Maire and Enno Järvis she has an older sister and a younger brother. After graduating high school she entered International University of Concordia where she was majoring in Media and Public Relations. Later she continued to study journalism at the University of Tartu. She was one of the four members to form Vanilla Ninja in 2002 and wrote lyrics for the song "Club Kung Fu" that made Vanilla Ninja well known in Estonia.
