Erroll B. Davis
Erroll Brown Davis Jr. (born August 5, 1944) is an American administrator and businessman. Erroll earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1965 and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago in 1967. Previously, Davis served as the superintendent of the Atlanta Public Schools school district in Atlanta, Georgia. He also served as the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia, where he was responsible for the state's 35 public colleges and universities. He has also served as the Chairman of the Board at Alliant Energy Corporation and President/CEO of WPL Holdings, and a chairman of the Carnegie Mellon University board of trustees. Davis is a former Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. From 1998 to 2010, he was a non-executive director of multinational oil company BP plc. Alliant Energy is a public utility holding company headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, providing power in Iowa and Wisconsin. History Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) expanded greatly in the late 1920s to include operations in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Manitoba (Canada). One of the largest purchases in the late 1920s was the purchase of what became its northern Minnesota territory from the Wilbur Foshay interests. The Wilkes University Election Statistics Project is a free online resource documenting Pennsylvania political election results dating back to 1796. Currently, the database documents Pennsylvania's county-level vote totals for President, Governor, United States Senator, and Congressional elections back to 1796. The database also contains directories for members of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly and the Pennsylvania General Assembly, dating back to 1682. According to the database's designer, Wilkes University Professor Harold E. Cox, "No other state has anything like it." The project's impetus began in 1996, when Cox inquired about 19th century election statistics, only to find that the data would cost $1,000.
