Erik Van Schaaik
Erik van Schaaik (Maartensdijk, 24 July 1968) is a Dutch animator, screenwriter, film and television director, producer, production designer and composer. Biography Erik van Schaaik studied graphic design at the Academy of Art in Arnhem (ArtEZ). He created children's television programs for broadcasting companies VPRO and KRO and animated short films, including VENT which won the FIPRESCI award at the International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, and Under The Apple Tree which won a Golden Calf for Best Short Film at the Netherlands Film Festival. Erik worked with i.a. Il Luster Productions, The Drawing Room, Pedri Animation, Martin Fondse, Eric Vloeimans en Ernst Reijseger. Maartensdijk
Maartensdijk is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Utrecht (province), Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of De Bilt, and lies about 4 km north of Bilthoven. History Maartensdijk was a separate municipality until 2001, when it merged with De Bilt. Until 1812 Maartensdijk was called Oostveen which is pronounced as 'oastfain'. Oostveen means "east fen". A fen is a wetland characterized by Sphagnum, sphagnum moss, peat and an alkaline or neutral pH. Rendering this wetland into agricultural land was initiated by Bishop Godebald van Utrecht (1114–1127) when the Kromme Rijn ("Crooked Rhine") was dammed in 1122 at Wijk bij Duurstede. The same Bishop Godebald gave land development contracts to those who would completely drain this land and make it arable; Oostveen was a large section of this area. Cutout Animation
Cutout animation is a form of stop-motion animation using flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric or photographs. The props would be cut out and used as puppets for stop motion. The world's earliest known animated feature films were cutout animations (made in Argentina by Quirino Cristiani), as is the world's earliest surviving animated feature '' Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed'' (1926) by Lotte Reiniger. The technique of most cutout animation is comparable to that of shadow play, but with stop motion replacing the manual or mechanical manipulation of flat puppets. Annecy International Animated Film Festival
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival (, officially abbreviated in English as the Annecy Festival, or simply Annecy) was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998. The 55th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 10 to 20 February 2005. '' Man to Man'' by Régis Wargnier served as opening night film. The festival closed with '' Kinsey'' by Bill Condon. The Golden Bear was awarded to ''U-Carmen eKhayelitsha'' directed by Mark Dornford-May. The retrospective was dedicated to the scene formers. Hieronymus Bosch
Hieronymus Bosch (; ; born Jheronimus van Aken ; – 9 August 1516) was a Dutch people, Dutch painter from Duchy of Brabant, Brabant. He is one of the most notable representatives of the Early Netherlandish painting school. His work, generally oil on oak wood, mainly contains fantastic art, fantastic illustrations of religious concepts and narratives. Within his lifetime, his work was collected in the Netherlands, Austria, and Spain, and widely copied, especially his macabre and nightmarish depictions of hell. Little is known of Bosch's life, though there are some records. He spent most of it in the town of 's-Hertogenbosch, where he was born in his grandfather's house. The more general term computer-generated imagery (CGI) encompasses both still images and moving images, while computer animation refers to moving images. 2D Animation
Traditional animation (or classical animation, cel animation, or hand-drawn animation) is an animation technique in which each frame is drawn by hand. The technique was the dominant form of animation of the 20th century, until there was a shift to computer animation in the industry, such as digital ink and paint, a modern form of traditional animation methods, and 3D computer animation. Stop-motion (also known as stop frame animation) is an animated filmmaking and special effects technique in which objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of frames is played back. Any kind of object can thus be animated, but puppets with movable joints (puppet animation) or clay figures (claymation) are most commonly used.
