Eric Campbell (actor)
Alfred Eric Campbell (26 April 1879 – 20 December 1917) was an English actor. He was a key member of Charlie Chaplin's film ensemble, invariably playing an intimidating bully, and appeared in eleven of Chaplin's films before he was killed in a car crash at the age of 38. He is the subject of a documentary by filmmaker Kevin Macdonald. Career Campbell began acting in "fit-ups" (local theatres) in Scotland and Wales, playing melodramatic roles. In this setting he was discovered by Fred Karno, the English impresario who was impressed by Campbell's size and baritone voice and took him to London to act in the slapstick comedy style. Campbell travelled to New York in 1914, following Chaplin and his then understudy Stan Laurel, who had moved there in 1913. Campbell soon became established in America as a stage actor. Eric Singleton Campbell (born April 9, 1987), nicknamed "Soup", is an American professional baseball utility player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners, and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Hanshin Tigers. Early life Campbell was born on April 9, 1987, in Norwich, Connecticut, the younger of two children to Hugh Baird "Duke" Campbell and Amy B. Campbell (née Burgess). Eric Campbell (born August 22, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Spring Hill College. Career Campbell began his professional career in 1999 in Israel with Elitzur Kiryat Ata, and played there three seasons. From 2002 to 2005 he played with Ironi Nahariya. In 2005, Campbell signed with Le Mans Sarthe Basket. With them he played for the first time in the Euroleague in the 2006–07 season, and was named MVP of week 2. Eric Campbell, (11 April 1893 – 2 September 1970) was an Australian Officer (armed forces), army officer and later a solicitor who was the leader of the Far-right politics, far-right organisation, the New Guard in New South Wales. Campbell had a distinguished career during World War I, serving as a major in artillery batteries on the Western Front (World War I), Western Front. In Sydney in 1919 Campbell was admitted as a solicitor. He remained attached to the militia for about six years after returning from the war. In 1925 Campbell and another ex-A.I.F. officer organised a group of about five hundred men to provide extra-official support to the federal government to control anticipated unionist protests, in support of the government's efforts to deport two union leaders. Charles Eric Campbell (12 December 1942 — 24 January 2006) was an Irish rugby union international. Campbell was born in Tullow, County Carlow and attended Dublin's Mountjoy School. A lock, Campbell played for Old Wesley and Leinster, gaining a solitary Ireland cap in a draw against the Springboks at Lansdowne Road in 1970. Sir Eric Campbell Geddes (26 September 1875 – 22 June 1937) was a British businessman and Conservative politician. With a background in railways, he served as head of Military Transportation on the Western Front, with the rank of major-general. He then served as First Lord of the Admiralty (with the rank of vice-admiral, despite its being a political position) between 1917 and 1919. He then served as the first Minister of Transport between 1919 and 1921, in which position he was responsible for the deep public spending cuts known as the " Geddes Axe". The Eric-Campbell was a British car made from 1919 to 1924 by Eric-Campbell & Co Limited of Cricklewood, London. The company was formed by H Eric Orr-Ewing and Noel Campbell Macklin. Manufacturing Eric-Campbell was formed by H Eric Orr-Ewing and Noel Campbell Macklin. Macklin subsequently founded Silver Hawk, Invicta and Railton car manufacturers. Manufacturing took place in the factory of the Handley Page aircraft company in Cricklewood London. It is estimated that as many as 500 cars might have been made. Demise Macklin left the company in 1920 to concentrate on his Silver Hawk car and by 1921 Eric-Campbell were in financial difficulties. In 1922 production was taken over by Vulcan Iron & Metal Works Limited of Southall, Middlesex. Prices were reduced and a wider range of bodies offered. John Erik Campbell (born January 21, 1966) is an American gridiron football coach and former player. He is currently the assistant wide receivers coach for the University of Michigan football team. Campbell played college football at the University of Michigan from 1984 to 1987. He has held coaching positions at the United States Naval Academy (1989–1990), Ball State University (1991–1993) and Syracuse University (1994), Michigan (1995–2007), the University of Iowa (2008–2012), and the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (2013–2014).
