Erasmus Bus Crash
On 20 March 2016, a Tata Hispano passenger bus carrying Erasmus students from several countries came from the Fallas Festival in Valencia to Barcelona collided with a car on the Autopista AP-7 motorway, near the town of Freginals Freginals is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Montsià in Catalonia, Spain. This town is located on a hill between the northern end of the Serra de Godall and the Serra del Montsià, not far from the forking of the roads between Tortosa, .... Thirteen died – all of them young female students. Emergency services confirmed that the students on the affected bus were from 20 countries or territories: France, the Netherlands, Finland, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Great Britain, Italy, Peru, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Poland, Ireland, the Palestinian territories, Japan and Ukraine. Freginals
Freginals is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Montsià in Catalonia, Spain. This town is located on a hill between the northern end of the Serra de Godall and the Serra del Montsià, not far from the forking of the roads between Tortosa, Ulldecona and Amposta. The area around the town has ancient passages of transhumant cattle herders known locally as lligallos. The RENFE railway line from Valencia to Tortosa used to have a railway station in this town before 1990, but the station is now closed. Tata Hispano
Tata Hispano Motors Carrocera, S.A. (formerly Hispano Carrocera, S.A.), based in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain, was one of the largest manufacturers of bus and coach cabins in Europe. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of the India-based Tata Motors. Tata Motors acquired control of the company in 2005, after purchasing a 21% stake in the company. In 2009, it acquired the remaining 79% from Investalia SA. Apart from their main plant in Zaragoza, Hispano had a second one in Casablanca, Morocco; combined, they had a production capacity of 2,000 units in a year. Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a Europe-wide student organisation. The organization supports and develops student exchanges, both inside the Erasmus+ programme and outside of it. The Falles ( ca-valencia, Falles; es, Fallas) is a traditional celebration held annually in commemoration of Saint Joseph in the city of Valencia, Spain.
