Equestrian At The 2020 Summer Paralympics
Equestrianism, Equestrian events at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan were held at the Tokyo Equestrian Park. There were eleven gender free events taking place: ten individual events and one mixed team event. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Qualification Qualification was held from 1 January 2018 to 31 January 2020. *An NPC is allowed to have a maximum of four qualification slots: ** One eligible team of four athletes and minimum of three or maximum of four per individual events can contest. ** At least one athlete must be eligible to be in sport classes grade I, grade II or grade III. Tokyo Equestrian Park
The is an Equestrianism, equestrian sport venue located in Setagaya, Tokyo. The venue is owned by the Japan Racing Association and is a public park all year round, known familiarly as 'Horse Park'. It was constructed in 1940 for the 1940 Summer Olympics, Olympics, but after the Games were cancelled, it was used for the promotion of equestrian events of all sorts. The Park also hosted a training facility for prospective jockeys until the Horseracing School was opened in 1982. Originally, this place would host the same events during the 1964 Summer Olympics, but technical issues took equestrian events to the city of Karuizawa, Nagano, Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture. Pepo Puch
Josef "Pepo" Puch (born 10 January 1966 in Graz) is an Austrian-Croatian equestrian. He started in equestrian at fifteen. Puch competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics for Croatia in the individual eventing with horse Banville D'Ivoy. He finished 63rd. In 2008, Puch was in an accident and has incomplete paraplegia as a result. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics he won a gold medal and a bronze medal, this time competing for his birth country of Austria. Sophie Wells (born 5 May 1990) is an English para-equestrian who won three medals at the 2012 London Paralympics, three at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, two at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and two at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Personal life Wells was born on 5 May 1990 in Lincoln, England. She was born with amniotic band syndrome and as a result she has no feeling or little movement in her feet and has lost numerous fingers. Because of her disability she competes in the Grade V Paralympic classification, the classification for riders with the lowest level of physical disability. Wells completed her GCSEs and 3 A-levels (Biology, Physics & Sport) at Sir Robert Pattinson Academy in 2008, and started at the University of Lincoln doing Sport & Exercise Science, however left when entering into Year 2, to focus on the London 2012 Paralympics. Michèle George
Michèle George (born 2 January 1974) is a Paralympic equestrian of Belgium. She won seven gold and one silver medal at the Paralympic Games. She was named " Belgian Paralympian of the Year" twice: in 2014 and in 2022. Early life Michèle George was born on 2 January 1974 in Ostend, West Flanders, Belgium. Manon Clayes (born January 3, 1986 in Maldegem) is a Paralympic equestrian of Belgium. She broke her neck and three vertebrae in her back in a horse-riding accident on Friday the 13th, April 2007.
