Equestrian At The 1980 Summer Olympics
Equestrian at the 1980 Summer Olympics was represented by six events. All of them, with the exception of the Individual Jumping Grand Prix, were held in the Trade Unions' Equestrian Complex, which is situated in the Bitsa Forest Park (southern part of Moscow). Elisabeth Theurer
Elisabeth "Sissy" Theurer (born 20 September 1956) is an equestrian from Austria, now known as Elisabeth Max-Theurer after marriage. Biography She began horse riding at age 10. In 1968 she met Hans Max, a riding instructor, in cooperation with whom she achieved her main results and whom she married fifteen years later. In 1973 she received ''Mon Cherie'', a gray (horse), gray horse, as a bonus while buying another one. Mon Cherie's first steps were rather disappointing, but after consequent and persistent work he became very skillful, famous for his piaffe-passage (dressage), passage tour and pirouette (dressage), pirouettes. At the 1979 European Dressage Championships in Aarhus Theurer with ''Mon Cherie'' won the gold medal. A year later on Mon Cherie she became an Olympic champion. Yuri Kovshov
Yuri Aleksandrovich Kovshov (; born 5 September 1951) is a former Ukrainian Soviet equestrian and Olympic champion. He was born in Kushka, Turkmen SSR, and was affiliated with VDFSO Kiev. He won a gold medal in team dressage at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, and received a silver medal in individual dressage. Aleksandr Ivanovich Blinov (19 August 1954 – 9 February 2021) was a Russian Soviet equestrian and Olympic champion, born in Frunze, Kirghiz SSR. He planned to take the bus from Andreyevskoye to Mozhaisk to visit the bank. In the evening, his daughter could not get in contact with him and he was reported missing. Blinov's body was found three weeks later on March 2, 2021. On the evening of February 9, he appears to have been dropped off by a taxi 500m from his house. Federico Roman (born 29 July 1952) is an Italian equestrian and Olympic champion. Biography Federico Roman won an individual gold medal in eventing at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He was also a member of the Italian team that received a silver medal in ''team eventing'' at the same Olympics. He participated also to 1976 Summer Olympics and 1992 Summer Olympics. He is the brother of Mauro Roman. His sons Luca and Pietro competed together at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
