Daniel Casper (25 January 1635 in Nimptsch, Niederschlesien – 28 April 1683 in Breslau, Niederschlesien), also spelled Daniel Caspar, and referred to from 1670 as Daniel Casper von Lohenstein, was a Baroque Silesian playwright, lawyer, diplomat, poet, and chief representative of the . Family The Casper and/or Caspar () family came from the Brieg principality, first well known as poet and diplomats. Daniel Casper was the son of the imperial customs-officer, Akzisefälle-Einnehmers and Biergefälle-Einnehmers named Johann (Hans) Casper (c.1600-after 1670), alderman and city constable of Nimptsch, and Susanna Schedel of Greiffenstein (1612–1652). His father Hans in 1642 received a Wappenbrief and was raised on 17 July 1670 to a hereditary imperial peerage, with the name of "von Lohenstein". ''Epicharis'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Meliaceae. It includes seven species which range from Indochina to south-central China, Taiwan, Malesia, Papuasia, Queensland, and Fiji. The genus was first named by Carl Ludwig Blume in 1825.Blume CL (1825) ''Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind.'': 166. Most of the species currently accepted were, until recently, included in genus ''Dysoxylum''. A genetic study published in 2021 found that ''Dysoxylum'' is polyphyletic, and ''Epicharis'' was revived and re-circumscribed. The genus is named for Epicharis (d. 65 CE), a Roman woman who was a leader in the Pisonian conspiracy, and who was tortured and committed suicide rather than betray her co-conspirators. The genus ''Epicharis'' contains fewer than 40 species of large apid bees occurring in the Neotropics (from Mexico to Brazil ), most of which possess adaptations for carrying floral oils rather than (or in addition to) pollen or nectar. The floral oils are typically gathered from plants of the family Malpighiaceae, though other plants may be visited. They also commonly gather plant resins for use in nest cell construction.
