Entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and Interest (emotion), interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but it is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience's attention. Although people's attention is held by different things because individuals have different preferences, most forms of entertainment are recognisable and familiar. Storytelling, music, drama, dance, and different kinds of performance exist in all cultures, were supported in Court (royal), royal courts, and developed into sophisticated forms over time, becoming available to all citizens. ''Entertainment!'' is the debut album by English post-punk band Gang of Four. It was released in September 1979 through EMI Records internationally and Warner Bros. Records in North America. Stylistically, it draws heavily on punk rock but also incorporates the influence of funk, reggae and dub. Its lyrics and artwork reflected the band's left-wing political concerns. ''Entertainment!'' became a seminal album in the post-punk movement. In 2020, ''Entertainment!'' was ranked at number 273 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. ''The Woods'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band Sleater-Kinney. It was released in 2005 on Sub Pop. The album was produced by Dave Fridmann and recorded in late 2004. The album received widespread critical acclaim. Recording and production ''The Woods'' was produced by Dave Fridmann and recorded from November 2004 to December 2004 at Tarbox Road Studios in Cassadaga, New York. Much of the album was recorded live in the studio, as Fridmann consciously attempted to approximate the band's live sound on the record. ''Appeal to Reason'' is the fifth studio album by American punk rock band Rise Against. It was released on October 7, 2008. It marked a musical shift to what some have viewed as a more radio-friendly sound, with greater emphasis on production and bigger, more anthemic choruses. The album's lyrics primarily focus on political issues in the United States, such as the Iraq War and the Presidency of George W. Bush, Bush administration. Rise Against began recording ''Appeal to Reason'' in January 2008 at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado. ''Entertainment'' is the third studio album by electroclash duo and performance troupe Fischerspooner, released on May 5, 2009 in the United States, and on May 4 around the world. On April 19, 2009 a teaser for this album appeared on YouTube. Written over a two-year period with producer Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, The Sounds) and recorded independently in a carriage house in Brooklyn with an intimate circle of artists working on the band's live show as Ian Pai, Ben Bromley and Sam Kearney.
