''Encyclopedia of History of Ukraine'' () is an illustrated encyclopedia on history of Ukraine in 10 volumes. It was published in Ukrainian language in 2003–2013 and 2019Ihor Syundyukov. The Day (day.kyiv.ua). 27 March 2020 in Kyiv by the Naukova Dumka academic publishing house under auspices of the NASU Institute of History of Ukraine (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) headed by Valeriy Smoliy. Ukrainian Language
Ukrainian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language, spoken primarily in Ukraine. It is the first language, first (native) language of a large majority of Ukrainians. Written Ukrainian uses the Ukrainian alphabet, a variant of the Cyrillic script. The standard language is studied by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Potebnia Institute of Linguistics. Petro Tolochko
Petro Petrovych Tolochko (; 21 February 1938 – 28 April 2024) was a Soviet and Ukrainian historian, archaeologist, and political activist. He was one of the leading specialists in history of the Kievan Rus (Old Rus) and one of leading researchers of the NASU Institute of Archaeology of Ukraine. An encyclopedia is a reference work or compendium providing summaries of knowledge, either general or special, in a particular field or discipline. Encyclopedias are divided into articles or entries that are arranged alphabetically by article name or by thematic categories, or else are hyperlinked and searchable. Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia
The ''Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia'' () was a multi-purpose encyclopedia of Ukraine, issued in the USSR. First attempt Following the publication of the first volume of the in Lviv, then in Poland, in 1930, the ''Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia'' (''USE'') was commissioned by Mykola Skrypnyk. During his chairmanship in Kharkiv the editorial board of the ''USE'' was established, enlisting the help of over 100 professionals. Printing began in early 1933, but Moscow censors decried the encyclopedia as being nationalist. Of the 20 planned volumes only three were produced. In the same year Skrypnyk committed suicide, and was succeeded by Volodymyr Zatonsky. The printed copies were destroyed, and plans for the November 1934 edition of USE dissolved. Encyclopedia Of Modern Ukraine
The ''Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine'' (), abbreviated EMU, is a multi-volume national encyclopedia of Ukraine. It is an academic project of the Institute of Encyclopaedic Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Today, the reference work is available in a print edition and online. The ''EMU'' provides an integral image of modern Ukraine describing events, institutions, organizations, activities, notions and people from the early 20th century to the present. It embraces all spheres of life in Ukraine, and reflects current views on historical events and personalities. The Vladimir Vernadsky, Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, VNLU () is the main academic library and main scientific information centre in Ukraine, one of the List of largest libraries, world's largest national library, national libraries. Valeriy Smoliy
Valeriy Smoliy () is a Ukrainian academician, historian, and director of the NASU Institute of History of Ukraine. Career Smoliy was born on 1 January 1950 in the village of Avratyn, Volochysk Raion, Kamianets-Podilskyi Oblast. In 1970, he graduated from the historical faculty of the Kamianets-Podilskyi State Pedagogic Institute. After that, Smoliy worked as a rural teacher in schools in Ternopil Oblast and as a teacher assistant at the Nizhyn Pedagogic Institute. Since 1972, Smoliy has worked at the NASU Institute of History of Ukraine. In 1975 he defended his candidate thesis "Union of the right-bank Ukraine with Ukrainian lands within the Russian state" () and in 1985 his doctorate thesis "Social consciousness of Ukrainian national movements participants (second half of the 17th-18th centuries)" ().
