Emperor (roller Coaster)
Emperor is a Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster at SeaWorld in San Diego, California. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plans for opening the coaster were pushed back to 2021, before a final opening date of March 12, 2022 was announced. History On January 5, 2019, SeaWorld San Diego announced that a new B&M dive coaster would be coming to the park. The ride was to be named “Mako”. Through the IAAPA, it was announced that “Mako” would be changed to Emperor. Instead of being themed to sharks, the ride would now be themed to (emperor) penguins. Emperor is the first ''floorless'' dive coaster in California, and the second overall dive coaster in the state, after HangTime at Knott's Berry Farm. Emperor is located in the eastern area of SeaWorld San Diego, and just off the main walkway to the south of the Penguin Encounter exhibit. Dive Coaster
The Dive Coaster is a steel roller coaster model developed and engineered by Bolliger & Mabillard. The design features one or more near-vertical drops that are approximately 90 degrees, which provide a moment of free-falling for passengers. The experience is enhanced by unique trains that seat up to ten riders per row, spanning only two or three rows total. Unlike traditional train design, this distinguishing aspect gives all passengers virtually the same experience throughout the course of the ride. Another defining characteristic of Dive Coasters is the holding brake at the top of the lift hill that holds the train momentarily right as it enters the first drop, suspending some passengers with a view looking straight down and releasing suddenly moments later. Floorless Roller Coaster
A Floorless Coaster is a type of steel roller coaster manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard where riders sit with no floor underneath them, allowing their feet to swing freely just above the track. Development of the Floorless Coaster model began between 1995 and 1996 with Medusa (Six Flags Great Adventure), Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure, which opened on April 2, 1999, as world's first Floorless Roller Coaster. Floorless Roller Coasters typically feature between three and seven inversions in the layout of the coaster. Since 2007, Bolliger & Mabillard have used floorless trains on their Dive Coasters, such as Griffon (roller coaster), Griffon and SheiKra. Journey To Atlantis
Journey to Atlantis is the name shared by three Water Coasters located at SeaWorld theme parks. These attractions, while different from one another, tell a similar story of a trip to the mythical land of Atlantis. Each one combines roller coaster elements, such as chain lift hills and steep drops, with boat-based attraction elements, such as splash-down landings. All three attractions were designed by Mack Rides of Germany. SeaWorld Orlando The original Journey to Atlantis made its debut on April 17, 1998 at SeaWorld Orlando. Penguin Encounter is an animal exhibit at the Sea World (Australia), Sea World amusement park, theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Australia, featuring King penguin, king and Gentoo penguin, gentoo penguins. HangTime is a steel roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. The Infinity Coaster was manufactured by Gerstlauer on the former site of Boomerang and Riptide. On opening, it had the steepest drop on a rollercoaster in California, at 96°. HangTime was also marketed by the park as the first Dive Coaster in California. It opened on May 18, 2018.
