Plateau State in Nigeria Emmanuel Go’ar is a Nigerian politician who was speaker of the Plateau State Assembly in Jos from April 2007 until he was impeached in February 2009. The impeachment was related to a struggle between President Umaru Yar'Adua and Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang over a sectarian crisis in Jos, the Plateau State capital. Emmanuel Go’ar was elected to the Plateau State Assembly in 2007 as the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and made Speaker of the House. In November 2007, his election was nullified on the basis that the ballots omitted the logo of the rival Democratic People's Party (DPP), but he retained his seat during the subsequent appeal process. In March 2008, the Plateau State House of Assembly gave governor Jonah Jang the power to appoint caretaker committee chairmen for local councils. Plateau State
Plateau State is the twelfth-largest Nigerian state. It is in the centre of the country includes a range of hills surrounding the Jos Plateau, its capital, and the entire plateau itself. Plateau State is described as "The Home of Peace and Tourism". With natural formations of rocks, hills and waterfalls, it derives its name from the Jos Plateau and has a population of around 3.5 million people. Umaru Yar'Adua
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (16 August 19515 May 2010) was a Nigerian politician who, was the President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010. He was declared the winner of the Nigerian presidential election held on 21 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. He served previously as the governor of Katsina state from 1999 to 2007; and was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In 2009, Yar'Adua left for Saudi Arabia to receive treatment for pericarditis. He returned to Nigeria on 24 February 2010, but died on 5 May. Early life Family Yar'adua was born in Katsina state, Nigeria. His father, Musa Yar'Adua, was a Minister for Lagos in the First Republic and held the chieftaincy title of Matawalle (custodian of the royal treasury) of the Katsina Emirate, a title which Yar'Adua inherited. Jonah Jang
Air Commodore Jonah David Jang ( Retired, Rtd) CON (born 13 March 1944) is a Nigerian statesman who was the Governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015. He had previously served as Military Governor of Benue State and Gongola State He ran successfully for re-election on 26 April 2011. In 2015, Jang ran and won Plateau North senate seat as his term as Governor of Plateau State drew to a close. In 2018 Jang declared his senate seat vacant and said it was time for the people of Plateau North to decide who would represent them at the red chamber. Jang was at the time making a nocturnal political consultations to run for the presidential ticket of the main opposition, PDP for the 2019 presidential election. Democratic People's Party (Nigeria)
The Democratic People's Party is a Nigerian political party founded in 2006 by an aggrieved faction of the All Nigeria Peoples Party. The party, which has a broad political base, supports economic deregulation, human rights, and greater funding for health care and education, among other goals. In the 21 April 2007 presidential elections, the winner was Umaru Musa Yar'Adua of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 24,638,063 votes. The All Nigeria Peoples Party (abbr. ANPP) was a political party in Nigeria. Under the leadership of Late Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke who was its vice presidential candidate to General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2007 presidential elections. The party won a paltry 32.2% of the vote behind ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).
