Emil Steen (1870–1915)
Emil Steen (20 February 1870 – 20 July 1915) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Emil Steen (1829–1884) and a brother of Johan and Christian Steen. His father and two brothers were owners of Steen & Strøm. Emil Steen followed other ventures, however, and became a partner in Nyegaard & Co. around 1900. Founder Morten Nyegaard backed out in 1901, and Steen partnered up with Nyegaard's co-founder Theodor Haslund until Haslund backed out in 1906. Fredrik L. Christensen was then Steen's partner until 1913, when Steen became sole owner. Steen was behind the transformation of the company from a wholesaling company to a manufacturer of pharmaceutical products. The company has since been renamed Nycomed and gone multi-national. Emil Steen died in July 1915 in Moss. Marshals at his funeral were wholesaler Laurantzon and Halfdan Swensen. Erling Steen
Erling Steen (6 March 1891 – 22 September 1961) was a Norwegian businessman, humanitarian leader and member of the Norwegian resistance movement in World War II. Personal life Steen was born in Kristiania as a son of Johan Steen (1856–1934) and Marie Eveline Gulbranson (1861–1942). He was a grandson of Emil Steen (1829–1884), a nephew of Emil Jr. and Christian Steen, and a first cousin of Fredrik, Nils and Emil Steen. His sister Sigrid married Hans Thomas "Hassa" Horn. In November 1916 Erling Steen married Helene C. Laurantzon, a wholesaler's daughter. The marriage ended in August 1940. In the same month he married Kathleen Ragnhild Collett, née Falsen and divorcee of Johan Collett. This marriage ended in June 1949. Fredrik Steen
Fredrik Steen (6 September 1895 – 22 October 1970) was a Norwegian pharmacist and businessperson. He was a son of Emil Steen and Laura Steen. He was a grandson of Emil Steen (1829–1884), a nephew of Johan and Christian Steen and a first cousin of Erling Steen. Several family members were owners of Steen & Strøm, but Fredrik Steen's father had become a partner in the pharmaceutical wholesaling company Nyegaard & Co. His father was the sole owner of this company from 1913, and transformed it from a wholesaling company to a manufacturer of pharmaceutical products. However, he died in 1915. Fredrik's mother Laura ran the company until 1921, when Fredrik took over. He orchestrated a merger with ''Koren & Gedde'' and brought that company's owner Sverre Blix on board as co-owner.
