Weiner is a surname or, in fact, the spelling of two different surnames originating in German and the closely related Yiddish language. In German, the name is pronounced , of which the rare English pronunciation is a close approximation. In Yiddish, the name is pronounced almost as in southern German (with a flapped or trilled final r). Outside of German-speaking countries, the pronunciation of the name is influenced by the local language's pronunciation and spelling habits. Dan Weiner
Dan Weiner (1919–1959) was an American photojournalist, working largely for ''Fortune'' magazine. Weiner specialized in photographs of America at work. Life and work He was born in New York City. He studied painting at the Art Students League and the Pratt Institute, and eventually turned to photography, becoming a member of the Photo League. Weiner served in the Army Air Forces during World War II, and became a professional photojournalist after the war who worked largely for ''Fortune'' magazine. He made street photographs of mid-20th-century New York City. He died in a plane crash in Kentucky, aged 39. The plane, piloted by the subject of one of his stories, collided with the side of a mountain during a freak snowstorm. Hannah Weiner
Hannah Adelle Weiner (née Finegold) (November 4, 1928 – September 11, 1997) was an American poet who is often grouped with the ''Language poets'' because of the prominent place she assumed in the poetics of that group. Early life and writings Weiner was born in Providence, Rhode Island and attended Classical High School, until 1946, and then Radcliffe College. She graduated with a B.A. in 1950, with a dissertation on Henry James. Working in publishing and then in Bloomingdale's department store, she was married and then divorced after four years. Weiner started writing poetry in 1963 though her first chapbook, ''The Magritte Poems'' after René Magritte, was not published until 1970. Greg Weiner is a professional photographer. He is well known for his erotic images of nude male models. Gerald "Gerry" Weiner, (born June 26, 1933) is a Canadian politician. A pharmacist educated at McGill University and the Université de Montréal, Weiner entered local politics and eventually became mayor of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec in 1982. Ehud Manor (; born Ehud Weiner; July 13, 1941 – April 12, 2005) was an Israeli lyricist, translator, poet and radio and TV personality. He is widely considered to have been Israel's most prolific lyricist of all time, having written or translated over 1,000 songs.
