Eluned Morgan, Baroness Morgan Of Ely
Mair Eluned Morgan, Baroness Morgan of Ely, (born 16 February 1967), is a Welsh politician who has served as First Minister of Wales and Leader of Welsh Labour since 2024. Morgan is the first woman, and first member of the House of Lords to hold the office of First Minister. She previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care (Wales), Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care in the Welsh Government from 2021 to 2024. Morgan has been a member of the House of Lords since 2011, a member of the Senedd (MS) since 2016 and was a member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1994 to 2009. She is currently on a leave of absence from the House of Lords. She is a Welsh language, Welsh speaker and was Welsh Government, Minister for the Welsh Language from 2017 to 2021. Bob Morgan (priest)
Robert Harman Morgan (28 October 1928 – 23 November 2011) was a vicar of the Church in Wales and Labour Party politician who became leader of South Glamorgan County Council. He was the father of Welsh first minister Eluned Morgan. Early life and education Morgan was born on 28 October 1928 and grew up in Tremorfa, Cardiff, until the Second World War forced his family to evacuate to Aberdare where he went to the local grammar school. After the war he returned to Cardiff and, after spending National Service in the RAF, got a job as an insurance clerk. With ambitions to become a social worker he took two A-levels in six months, before graduating in Politics and Economics at University College, Cardiff. He went on to the theological college at Mirfield in Yorkshire before being ordained in 1957 to a curacy at St Augustine's Church, Penarth where he served until 1961. David Morris (Labour Politician)
David Morris (28 January 1930 – 24 January 2007) was a Wales, Welsh politician, Member of the European Parliament (MEP), chairman of Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) Cymru and peace activist. Morris was born in Kidderminster, but adopted by a Welsh family. He joined the Labour Party (UK), Labour Party at the age of fifteen, and as a young man he worked in a steel foundry in Llanelli, Wales, South Wales. During National Service in the late 1940s he was exempted from military service as a conscientious objector, conditional upon working down coal mining, coal mines. John Bufton
John Andreas Bufton (born 31 August 1962 in Llanidloes) is a British former politician who was a UK Independence Party (UKIP) Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Wales, from 2009 to 2014, when he stood down. Early life Bufton was educated at Elan Village Primary School and Llandrindod Wells High School, and joined the family haulage business before embarking on a career managing a residential care home for the elderly with the local authority.
