Elrod, South Dakota
Elrod was a town in Clark County, South Dakota. It was east of Clark, South Dakota located on two railroads. Elrod was originally called Ida, becoming Elrod in 1883. The most popular explanation for the town's name is that it is after Samuel H. Elrod, a personal friend of the original owner of the town site, and at one point an attorney in Clark county. However, there are competing explanations: that it was after a local grain merchant named W. S. Elrod is a census-designated place (CDP) in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 391 at the 2020 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all land. History The first post master for Elrod, North Carolina was Malcolm H. McCall on July 29, 1892. The post office lasted until August 31, 1957. Elrod was also the junction between the Atlantic Coast Line's Main Line and the Southeastern Railroad, which later became part of the Myrtle Beach Branch, both owned by the Atlantic Coast Line.
