''Electronic Projects for Musicians'' is a b-sides and rarities compilation album by the indie rock band The Apples in Stereo. It was released April 1, 2008 under the Simian Records, Yep Roc Records, and Elephant 6 labels. It can be seen as a companion to ''Science Faire'', a 1996 compilation that collects recordings from the band released prior to their first album. Announced by frontman Robert Schneider in May 2007, Schneider described ''Electronic Projects for Musicians'' as having "all of our non-LP material since ''Fun Trick Noisemaker'' came out" — a time period that spans 12 years. ''Electronic Projects for Musicians'' does include most of the band's non-LP material released while the band was signed to spinART Records, excluding songs found on the ''Look Away + 4'' and '' Let's Go!'' Eric Allen (musician)
The Apples in Stereo, styled as The Apples in stereo, are an American pop/rock band associated with Elephant 6 Collective, a group of bands also including Neutral Milk Hotel, The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Of Montreal, and Circulatory System. The band is largely a product of lead vocalist/guitarist/producer Robert Schneider, who writes the majority of the band's music and lyrics. Currently, The Apples in Stereo also includes longstanding members John Hill (rhythm guitar) and Eric Allen (bass), as well as more recent members John Dufilho (drums), John Ferguson (keyboards), and Ben Phelan (keyboards/guitar/trumpet). The band's sound draws comparisons to the psychedelic rock of The Beatles and The Beach Boys during the 1960s, as well as to bands such as Electric Light Orchestra and Pavement, and also draws from lo-fi, garage rock, new wave, R&B, bubblegum pop, power pop, punk, electro-pop and experimental music. Hilarie Sidney is an American musician best known as the longtime drummer for The Apples in Stereo. She was previously married to Robert Schneider, the band's frontman and Elephant 6 co-founder. Their divorce was announced in 2004. She was half of the now-defunct Elephant 6 duo Secret Square and, with her now-husband The Onion A.V. Club Per Ole Bratset, she is a major creative talent behind . John Hill (musician)
John Hill is an American guitarist best recognized as a member of The Apples in Stereo and Dressy Bessy. Hill, a college friend of drummer Hilarie Sidney and bassist Jim McIntyre, joined The Apples in January, 1994 after the departure of lead guitarist Chris Parfitt. At the time, The Apples needed a lead guitarist, but it was evident to the band members that Hill's jangly style was better suited to rhythm guitar. Frontman Robert Schneider thus became the band's lead guitarist. Hill has been a full-time recording and touring member of the band ever since. In 1997 Hill joined the band Dressy Bessy as the lead guitarist with girlfriend Tammy Ealom. He continues to perform with both bands. "Stephen, Stephen" is a song by American rock band, The Apples in Stereo. The song made its debut on December 20, 2006 on the Comedy Central program '' The Colbert Report'' where it was performed by Apples frontman, Robert Schneider during Episode number 193. The song glorifies the host of ''The Colbert Report'', Stephen Colbert. In the opening lyrics of the song, Schneider sings "who's the television host/understands what matters most" to which the answer is constantly the "handsome" and "dashing" Stephen. Schneider also makes reference to Colbert's grudge against The Decemberists (whose guitarist, Chris Funk, appeared in the same episode of the show) with the lines "he's calling out the bears in their evil lairs/he's calling out the press in their fancy dress/he's calling out The Decemberists and their Green Screen Contest". The Discovery Of A World Inside The Moone
''The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone'' is the fourth album from The Apples in Stereo. It received generally good reviews as a showcase for the band's experimental/psychedelic pop. The album is the band's first major change in production style compared to earlier albums. Up until ''The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone'', producer and band leader Robert Schneider would usually implement a Wall of Sound style of production on his records whereas on this album he chose to pursue a more "raw" sound. This was to portray a sound more similar to how the band sounded during live performances versus a typically more orchestrated quality of sound. PAiA Electronics, Inc. is an American synthesizer kit company that was started by John Simonton in 1967. It sells various musical electronics kits including analog synthesizers, theremins, mixers and various music production units designed by founder John Simonton, Craig Anderton, Marvin Jones, Steve Wood and others. History Simonton founded the company in Oklahoma City in 1967 and began offering various small electronics kits through mail order. The first kit was a circuit board for the "Cyclops Intrusion Detector" for an article in the May 1968 issue of '' Popular Electronics''.
