Electoral District Of Strathfield
Strathfield is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It was previously represented by Jodi McKay of the Labor Party until her resignation in 2021. Jason Yat-Sen Li won the by-election on the 12 February 2022 to succeed McKay. It was first created in 1988 and derives its name from the suburb of the same name. Strathfield is an urban electorate, covering 19 km² and taking in the suburbs of Burwood Heights, Burwood, Croydon, Croydon Park, Enfield, Flemington, Homebush, Homebush West, North Strathfield, Strathfield, Strathfield South and parts of Ashbury, Ashfield, Belfield and Concord West. Jodi McKay
Jodi Leyanne McKay (born 16 August 1969) is a former Australian politician who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from June 2019 until May 2021. She previously served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Strathfield for the Labor Party from 2015 to 2021. McKay also previously represented Newcastle for one term from 2007 until her defeat at the 2011 election. Between 2008 and 2011, McKay held a number of junior ministerial responsibilities in the Rees and Keneally governments, including serving as the Minister for the Hunter, Tourism, Small Business, Science and Medical Research, Commerce, and Women, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer). Charles Casuscelli (; born 22 October 1956) is an Australian politician, was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Strathfield for the Liberal Party from 2011 to 2015. Early years and background Casuscelli was born in Rome, Italy and emigrated to Australia in 1963, aged seven years. His family established their home in Blacktown, Sydney and he was a student firstly at Blacktown North Public Primary school and then Blacktown Boys High School. Dianne Virginia Judge (born 19 August 1956) is a former Australian politician, who was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Strathfield for the Labor Party from 2003 until 2011. Early life Judge was born in Cooma, New South Wales, and educated in her early years in both Canberra and New Delhi, India, where her father was posted as a diplomat associated with the Columbo Plan. She later returned to Canberra for her secondary schooling. From an early age Judge was an aspiring coloratura soprano, and won many awards in the Australian National Eisteddfod in Canberra. She obtained distinctions at 6th grade with the NSW Music Examinations Advisory Board in each of Speech and Drama, Pianoforte and Music Theory. Paul Whelan (politician)
Paul Francis Patrick Whelan (12 December 1943 – 30 October 2019) was an Australian politician, who served as the New South Wales Minister for Police between 1995 and 2001. Early years and background Whelan was born and raised in Ashbury, a suburb of Sydney, Australia to Mary Bridget and John Joseph Whelan. He was the youngest of their seven children. He was educated at St Francis Xavier Primary School, Ashbury, De La Salle College, Ashfield, and the University of Sydney, where he received an LL.B.
