Electoral District Of Warwick
Warwick was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1860 to 2001. It centred on the town of Warwick. The electorate was represented by two Premiers: Arthur Morgan and Thomas Joseph Byrnes. It was also the seat of former Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg. Warwick, Queensland
Warwick ( ) is a rural town and Suburbs and localities (Australia), locality in southeast Queensland, Australia, lying south-west of Brisbane. It is the administrative centre of the Southern Downs Region Local government in Australia, local government area. Kidstonites
The Kidstonites, also known as the Kidston Party, was a political party in the Australian state of Queensland in 1907 to 1908, formed by William Kidston. The party resulted from a split in the Queensland Labor Party and spent most of its existence in government, before merging with the conservative faction of Robert Philp in October 1908, to form the Liberal Party. Des Booth
Desmond James Booth (20 July 1920 – 11 December 1996), Australian politician, and dairy farmer and director of a number of agricultural co-operatives and associations prior to election. He was a councillor of the Shire of Glengallan in the Southern Downs region of Queensland, and served with the Australian Imperial Force in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands from 1941 to 1944. David Cory (politician)
David Wheatcroft Cory (3 August 1928 – 14 February 2022) was an Australian politician who was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography David Wheatcroft Cory was born in Warwick, Queensland, the son of Fitzroy Cory and his wife Margaret (née Wheatcroft). He was educated at Warwick Central and Intermediate State Schools before attending the Brisbane Grammar School. He became a farmer, working in Swanfels and Warwick. On 30 June 1967, Cory married Ms. Barnes and together had one son. Cory died in Warwick, Queensland on 14 February 2022, at the age of 93. Public life Following the death of Otto Madsen in 1963, Cory won the resulting by-election for the Country Party. He held the seat until the 1977 Queensland state elections when he retired from politics. John Healy (Australian Politician)
John Joseph O'Connor Healy (19 March 1894 – 18 July 1970) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly in Australia. Biography Healy was born in Maryborough, Queensland, the son of John Edward James Healy and his wife Margaret (née O'Connor). He was educated at St Mary's Convent, Yuleba State School, Assumption College in Warwick and Nudgee College in Brisbane. On leaving school he took up work as a clerk with the Queensland Railways in Warwick from 1908 until 1935. After politics he was a clerk in the Queensland Public Service before being the Private Secretary from 1950–1956 to Paul Hilton, the Minister for Works in the Queensland Government. In 1956 he was once again working as a clerk, this time in the Valuer-General's department. He retired in 1961. On 5 October 1921, Healy married Florence May Ahern and together had two sons and a daughter. He died in Brisbane in July 1970 and was buried in the South Brisbane Cemetery. The Country and Progressive National Party was a short-lived conservative political party in the Australian state of Queensland. Formed in 1925, it combined the state's conservative forces in a single party and held office between 1929 and 1932 under the leadership of Arthur Edward Moore. Following repeated election defeat it split into separate rural and urban wings in 1936. Queensland United Party
The National Party, known as the United Party from 1923, was a political party in the Australian state of Queensland from 1917 to 1925. Although allied with the federal Nationalist Party, it had different origins in state politics. It sought to combine the state's Liberal Party with the Country Party but the latter soon withdrew. In 1923 the party sought a further unification with the Country Party but only attracted a few recruits.
