Electoral District Of Mount Isa
Mount Isa was an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia from 1972 to 2017. It was located in the outback of the far west of the state and covered an area of 570,502 square kilometres. As of the 2015 state election, it had 19,119 registered electors, a slight decrease from 19,170 in 2009. The district took its name from the mining city of Mount Isa, which held the great majority of the electorate's population. Most of the electorate was virtually unpopulated. Following the implementation of one vote one value reforms in 1989, Mount Isa was one of five remote electorates that were allowed a greater variance from the average seat's population. The seat was held by the conservative parties for all but two terms in the first two decades of its existence, mostly coinciding with the height of National dominance. 2015 Queensland State Election
The 2015 Queensland state election was held on 31 January 2015 to elect all 89 members of the unicameral Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The centre-right Liberal National Party (LNP), led by Premier Campbell Newman, attempted to win a second term but was defeated by the opposition centre-left Australian Labor Party (ALP), led by Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk. Labor formed a minority government with the support of the lone independent MP in the chamber, Peter Wellington. It is only the seventh change of government in Queensland since 1915, and only the third time since 1932 that a sitting government in the state has failed to win a second term. The Gulf Country or North West Queensland is the region of woodland and savanna grassland surrounding the Gulf of Carpentaria in north western Queensland and eastern Northern Territory on the north coast of Australia. William Norris James Price (born 11 May 1935) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Price was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of John Benedict Price and his wife Mary Helen Jessie Brodie (née Norris) He was educated at St Finbarr's in Ashgrove, Marist College Ashgrove and Nudgee College before receiving a Certificate of Teaching at Kelvin Grove Teachers College and then attended the University of Queensland.
