Electoral District Of Condamine
Condamine is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. Condamine takes in areas to the north-west, west and south of Toowoomba. It includes a number of small towns, such as Oakey, Pittsworth, Cambooya and Clifton. The district is named for the Condamine River which runs through it. Created for the 2009 state election, it was mostly made up of territory previously belonging to the abolished districts of Cunningham and Darling Downs. It also drew a small number of voters previously belonging to the district of Toowoomba South. Clifton, Queensland
Clifton is a rural town and locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Clifton had a population of 1,490 people. Geography Clifton is a town in the Darling Downs. The town is situated just west of the New England Highway, about south of Toowoomba and west of Brisbane. Bange's Airfield, six kilometres west of Clifton, is a centre for ultralight aircraft, and home to the Lone Eagle Flying School and the Darling Downs Sport Aircraft Association Inc. Boab trees are an important cultural heritage feature, particularly alongside the main street. The New England Highway runs along the eastern boundary. Victor Bruce Sullivan (7 December 1918 – 29 January 1993) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Sullivan was born in Launceston, Tasmania, the son of James Bruce Sullivan and his wife Julia Ellen (née Brown). He was educated at Downlands College in Toowoomba and on leaving school became a grain, beef, pork, and lamb farmer. Queensland Labor Party (1957–1978)
The Queensland Labor Party (QLP) was a political party of Queensland, Australia, formed in 1957 by a breakaway group of the then ruling Labor Party Government, following the expulsion of Premier Vince Gair. In 1962 the party became the Queensland section of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP). The party continued to hold seats in the Queensland state parliament until 1972, then suffered a collapse in its vote and wound itself up in 1978. History In Queensland, Vince Gair became Labor leader and premier in 1952. On 24 April 1957, the Central Executive of the ALP expelled Gair because of his support of the Industrial Groups within the ALP. Les Diplock
Leslie Frank Louis "Les" Diplock CMG (16 September 1899 – 6 November 1983) was an Australian politician. Diplock was born in South Brisbane to house-painter Louis Diplock and Louisa May, ''née'' Lucas and attended state and private schools in Rockhampton. He was a student teacher from 1914 and taught in Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Bribie Island from 1918 to 1924. He married Olive Constance Becker on 20 December 1920 at Taroom. He was head teacher at six successive schools before acting as district inspector of schools for the south-west region from June to December 1952. Eric Allpass
Frederic James "Eric" Allpass (21 September 1889 - 5 April 1977) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Allpass was born in Warwick, Queensland, the son of Frederic William Allpass and his wife Isabel Jane (née Merry). He was educated at Laidley State School and on leaving school became a dairy farmer and grazier. On the 21 November 1921 Allpass married Florence Marian Guille and together had a son and two daughters. He died in April 1977 at Toowoomba. Stuart Copeland
Stuart William Copeland (born 19 January 1968) is an Australian politician. He was a National/ Liberal National from 2001 to 2009, representing the district of Cunningham. Political career Copeland won preselection to contest the state seat of Cunningham for the National Party defeating the Mayor of the Jondaryan Shire Peter Taylor. Taylor went on to be elected Mayor of the Toowoomba Regional Council in 2008. Copeland was elected at the February 2001 State election after a three cornered contest with the Liberal Party. Raymond Gordon Hopper (born 3 March 1960) is a former Australian politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 2001 to 2015.
