Electoral District Of Blackall
Blackall was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland from 1873 to 1888. History Blackall was established in 1873 as a single-member constituency by the ''1872 Electoral Districts Act'' and covered the rural surrounding areas of Rockhampton from the coast to the ranges. It was abolished in the 1887 redistribution, being split up into two new electorates, Electoral district of Fitzroy and Electoral district of Rockhampton North, and the existing Electoral district of Normanby. Legislative Assembly Of Queensland
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs). There is approximately the same population in each electorate; however, that has not always been the case (in particular, a malapportionment system - not, strictly speaking, a gerrymander - dubbed the '' Bjelkemander'' was in effect during the 1970s and 1980s). The Assembly first sat in May 1860 and produced Australia's first Hansard in April 1864. Electoral District Of Fitzroy (Queensland)
Fitzroy was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district was based in central Queensland, west of Rockhampton. It included the towns of Baralaba, Blackwater, Duaringa, Dysart, Mount Morgan and Wowan as well as some of Rockhampton's outer suburbs. The electorate was first contested in 1992. An earlier district based in the same region was also called Fitzroy. It was first contested in 1888 and abolished in 1960. In 2008, Fitzroy was abolished—with effect at the 2009 state election—as a result of a redistribution undertaken by the Electoral Commission of Queensland. Its former territory and voters were divided between the districts of Callide, Gregory, Mirani and Rockhampton. Electoral District Of Rockhampton North
Rockhampton North was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1888 to 1912, and from 1960 to 1992. It was based on the northern area of Rockhampton. In both incarnations, it was replaced by the district of Keppel. Rockhampton North was generally a safe seat for the Labor Party. It was one of the eleven seats held by Labor in their "cricket team" caucus after the 1974 election, their worst defeat until 2012. The electoral district of Normanby was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland from 1872 until 1949. History Normanby was created by the ''Electoral Districts Act'' in 1872 as a single-member seat, stretching from the coastal area around St Lawrence, west towards Clermont. Over the years of redistributions, Normanby became an inland electorate to the west of Rockhampton. Peter Fitzallan MacDonald (4 September 1830 – 19 June 1919) was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life MacDonald was born at Campbelltown, New South Wales to Alexander Macdonald and his wife Sarah (née Warby). Archibald Archer
Archibald Archer M.L.A., J.P., (18 March 1820 – 6 February 1902) was a Queensland politician, a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly, and Treasurer of Queensland. He was one of the Archer brothers, an early Queensland pioneering family. Personal life Archibald Archer was born in Fife, Scotland on 18 March 1820, the son of William Archer, of Larvik, Norway. At age 5, Archer went with his father to Norway and was educated in Norway. Later he spent five years in an engineering establishment in Scotland. Archer emigrated to Australia, where he arrived in 1842, but only stayed five months, subsequently spending thirteen years in the South Sea and Sandwich Islands. In the latter he was engaged on coffee and sugar plantations. Returning to Queensland in 1860, Archer took up his residence at Gracemere station. In 1896, Archer left Australia and died at the family's Norwegian estate, Tolderedden, Larvik, Norway on 6 February 1902 aged 81 years.Death certificate for Arch ... William Pattison (Queensland Politician)
Hon. William Pattison (23 May 1830 – 8 June 1896) was a politician in colonial Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Pattison was born in Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (later renamed Tasmania) but emigrated to Victoria and was a councillor of the city of Melbourne. In August 1864, Pattison went to Queensland, and commenced business at Rockhampton, where he acquired a large interest in the Mount Morgan Gold Mining Company. Politics Pattison, who has been Mayor of Rockhampton, succeeded Archibald Archer in the representation of Blackall in 1886, was elected for Rockhampton in 1888, and was a minister without portfolio in the Thomas McIlwraith ministry from June to November 1888.
