Elahi
Elahi () is an Aramaic word meaning "My God". ''Elah'' means "god", with the suffix ''-i'' meaning "my." Being Aramaic and not Hebrew (there is no singular possessive for "god" in Biblical Hebrew), in the Old Testament, ''Elahi'' is found only in the books of Ezra and Daniel. It is best known for its transliteration in Mark 15:34, "ἐλωΐ ἐλωΐ" ''eloi eloi''. Christian use Some scholars believe Elahi may be the name of God that Jesus vocalized in his last words on the cross. Science historian Livio Catullo Stecchini and Jan Sammer write, "The limits of Mark‘s knowledge of Hebrew are revealed by the sentence ''Elo Elo Lama Sabachthani'' which he puts into the mouth of Jesus. It is a confused rendering into Greek lettering of the text of Psalm 22:2, which reads in Hebrew ''eli eli lama azabtani'' and in Aramaic ''elahi elahi lema sebaqtani''."''The Gospel According to Seneca'', by Livio C. Stecchini & Jan Sammer, 1996 See also * Aramaic of Jesus * Elohim * Semitic ...

Ilah
' (; plural: ') is an Arabic term meaning "god". In Arabic, ilah refers to anyone or anything that is worshipped. The feminine is ' (, meaning "goddess"); with the article, it appears as ' (). The Arabic word for God (') is thought to be derived from it (in a proposed earlier form ''al-Lāh'') though this is disputed. is cognate to Northwest Semitic '' '' and Akkadian ''ilum''. The word is from a Proto-Semitic archaic biliteral ' meaning "god" (possibly with a wider meaning of "strong"), which was extended to a regular triliteral by the addition of a '' h'' (as in Hebrew '' , ''). The word is spelled either with an optional diacritic alif to mark the ' only in Qur'anic texts or (more rarely) with a full alif, . The term is used throughout the Quran in passages discussing the existence of God or the beliefs in other divinities by non-Muslims. Notably, the first statement of the ' (the Muslim confession of faith) is "There is no god (') except the God (')." See also * Ara ...
