''El rey de los gitanos'', was a 1933 American Spanish language comedy-drama film directed by Frank Strayer, which stars José Mojica, Rosita Moreno, and Julio Villarreal. The screenplay was written by Paul Perez, Llewellyn Hughes, and José López Rubio. It was produced and distributed by Fox Films, and premiered in Barcelona, Spain on May 23, 1933. Its U.S. premiere occurred three days later in Los Angeles on May 26. Frank Strayer
Frank Raymond Strayer (September 21, 1891 – February 3, 1964) was an actor, film writer, director and producer. He was active from the mid-1920s until the early 1950s. He directed a series of 14 ''Blondie (1938 film), Blondie!'' (1938) movies as well. Biography Strayer attended Carnegie Tech and then the Pennsylvania Military Academy. After graduation, he served in the Navy during World War I. After the War, he found work at Metro Pictures, Metro Studios, which would later become known as MGM. While there, he worked as an assistant director and also acted in a few films. During the 1920s, he moved on to Columbia Pictures. While there, he became a successful writer, director and producer. Romualdo Tirado Pozo, aka Romualdo Tirado Pozo, (September 3, 1880 – October 17, 1963) was a stage actor and theatre impresario with a prolific career in Spanish language films produced in Hollywood during the advent of film talkies. Early life Romualdo Tirado was born in Quintanar de la Orden (Spain) on September 3, 1880. Orphaned from an early age, Romualdo began working as a child entertainer for the Juan Bosch Compañía Infantil, touring Spain and Latin America. Career Latin America During his stay in Argentina, Romualdo met Spanish stage actress Matilde Liñán (1881 - 1971), who was part of a Spanish operetta company she had joined with sister Filomena Liñán. Romualdo toured with the Liñán sisters and married Matilde in Guayaquil (Ecuador). He moved to Mexico where he worked in live entertainment. Martin Garralaga
Martín Garralaga (10 November 1894 – 12 June 1981) was a Spanish actor who worked in Hollywood from the 1930s through the 1960s. He was married to opera singer and actress Rosa Rey. Biography Garralaga first came to the United States when he sailed from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the steamship ''Catherine'' in April 1924. He acted in more than two hundred roles in film and television and is probably best known for his portrayal of "Pancho" in the early Cisco Kid films.
