A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Rafael Banquells Garafulla (born Rafael Banquells Garafulla; 25 June 1917 – 27 October 1990) was a Cuban-born Mexican actor, director and TV producer known in Mexico as Rafael Banquells (I). Biography Banquells was born on 25 June 1917 in La Habana, Cuba, to Spanish parents. The family moved back to Spain and he went to primary school in Barcelona. Following the Spanish Civil War, they moved to France and then Mexico. Banquells began his career as a movies actor in 1940. He was married three times. His wives were actresses. First he married Blanca de Castejón (deceased). He was then married to the actress and TV producer Silvia Pinal and they had a daughter, Sylvia Pasquel; and he was last married to the actress Dina de Marco. María de los Ángeles Fernández Abad (30 July 1924 – 25 March 1994), known professionally as Angelines Fernández, was a Spanish-born Mexican actress. She is best remembered for playing Doña Clotilde "La Bruja del 71" in the sitcom ''El Chavo del Ocho''. She was an anti-Franco refugee who remained in Mexico (in addition to a brief stint in Cuba) from 1947 until the end of her life.
