El Salto is a city and seat of the municipality of Pueblo Nuevo in the southwestern part of the Mexican state of Durango. El Salto, Jalisco
El Salto is a city, and the surrounding municipality of the same name, in the central region of the Mexican state of Jalisco. The municipality covers a surface area of with a population of 232,852. It is surrounded, in a clockwise direction from the north, by the municipalities of Tlaquepaque, Tonalá, Juanacatlán, and Tlajomulco de Zúñiga. It was created on 22 December 1943, with its excision from the municipality of Juanacatlán. El Salto Dam
El Salto Dam (), located on the Guadalquivir River in the municipal district of El Carpio ( Province of Córdoba, Spain), comprises a dam and its corresponding hydroelectric power station. Built for storage of water for electricity generation and irrigation, the dam is situated near the 3.3 km mark on the Pedro Abad-Adamuz highway (CO-412). Its Neo-Mudéjar design is the result of a collaboration between architect Casto Fernández Shaw and engineers Carlos Mendoza and Antonio del Águila. The Madrid-based engineering consulting firm undertook construction of the dam between 1918 and 1922. Since its inception, the dam has proved valuable to the local population for its contribution to the development and economic expansion of the area. El Salto del Hanabanilla, also known as Hanabanilla, is a Cuban village and ''consejo popular'' ("people's council", i.e. hamlet) of the municipality of Manicaragua, Villa Clara Province. As of 2014 the town has 137 homes making up a total of 436 inhabitants. Is a mountain resort famous for the homonym lake. History El Salto del Hanabanilla was originally settled by Taino people; so far 35 aboriginal villages have been discovered around this area. After the Spanish colonization it remained virtually untouched until the early 19th century, when it was finally settled in 1802 by Galician families trying to foment the production of tobacco and coffee and create cattle farms. The idea to create a man-made reservoir is also quite old; it was first proposed in 1868, in order to efficiently supply the port city Cienfuegos with fresh water and electricity for its electrical tramway system.
