El Paseo (Palm Desert, California)
Palm Desert is a city in the Coachella Valley region of Riverside County, California. The city is located in the Colorado Desert arm of the Sonoran Desert, about east of Palm Springs, California, Palm Springs, northeast of San Diego and east of Los Angeles. The population was 51,163 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, and the city has been one of the state's fastest-growing since 1980, when its population was 11,801. History Palm Desert is in the ancestral homeland of the Cahuilla people, who are nowadays organized as a division of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Their bird songs and funeral songs share the oral tradition of how they lived on this land for over 10,000 years. The area was first known as the Old MacDonald Ranch, before the name changed to Palm Village in the 1920s when date palm groves were planted. The Paseo de la Guerra is a complex of historic buildings in downtown Santa Barbara, California. Since 1977 it is listed (as El Paseo and Casa de la Guerra) in National Register of Historic Places. It is named for the Guerra family of California, a historically prominent Californio family in Santa Barbara. It includes the Spanish Colonial architecture adobe Casa de la Guerra, the restored historic home of a Spanish Military Officer, Civil Servant, and Californio rancher José de la Guerra y Noriega on which construction begun in the 18th century. ''El Paseo'' () is a 2010 Colombian road-comedy film directed by Harold Trompetero and starring Antonio Sanint and Carolina Gómez. The official Colombian release was on December 25, 2010. Plot The film is about a family on vacation. After 11 years of continuous work, Alex Peinado decides to spend a well-earned holiday with his family. He goes on a road trip towards Cartagena, with his wife, his mother-in-law, his two teenage children and his dog Kaiser. Joseph Jacinto Mora (October 22, 1876 – October 10, 1947) was a Uruguayan-born American cowboy, photographer, artist, cartoonist, illustrator, painter, muralist, sculptor, and historian who wrote about his experiences in California. He has been called the "Renaissance Man of the West". Early life Mora was born on October 22, 1876, in Montevideo, Uruguay. His father was the Catalan sculptor, Domingo Mora, and his mother was Laura Gaillard Mora, an intellectual born in the Bordeaux region of France. His elder brother was F. Luis Mora, who would become an artist and the first Hispanic member of the National Academy of Design. The family entered the United States in 1880 and first settled in New York City, and then Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
