Ekstraklasa
(; meaning "Extra Class" in Polish), officially known as PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa due to its Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is a professional association football league in Poland and the highest level of the Polish football league system. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the qualifies for the Polish Super Cup. Since 2005, the league is operated by the S.A. (corporation), Spółka Akcyjna. Ernest Pohl
Ernest Pohl (3 November 1932 – 12 September 1995), a.k.a. Ernst Pol, was a Polish footballer who played as a striker. With 186 goals, he is the Polish top division's record goalscorer. Career Pohl scored 39 goals in 46 international matches for Poland national football team and to this day remains the most prolific Ekstraklasa. He played for Slavia Ruda Śląska, Orzeł Łódź between 1952 and 1953, CWKS Warsaw between 1953 and 1956 and Górnik Zabrze between 1957 and 1967. During the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, he scored five goals in a 6–1 win against Tunisia. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification in 1990, he relocated to Germany, where his wife and daughters had moved earlier. In 2004, Górnik Zabrze's stadium was named after him. Polish Super Cup
The Polish Super Cup (, ) is an annually held match between the champions of the Ekstraklasa and the Polish Cup winners or, if the Ekstraklasa champions also win the Polish Cup, the Cup's runners-up. As of 2024, the Polish Super Cup has been played 34 times. The most successful club is Lech Poznań, who won 6 times. The most common participant has been Legia Warsaw, as they have played sixteen final games and lost their eight following finals between 2012 and 2021. Unlike the Polish Cup, there is no extra time played in the competition, therefore in case of a draw after regular time, the match goes straight into a penalty shoot-out. I liga (, ), currently named Betclic I liga due to its sponsorship by Betclic, is the men's second professional association football division of the Polish football league system, below the Ekstraklasa and above the II liga via promotion/relegation systems. Łukasz Surma (born 28 June 1977) is a Polish professional football manager and former player who was most recently in charge of III liga club Pogoń-Sokół Lubaczów. He holds the record for the most appearances in Ekstraklasa history, with 559 games played for Wisła Kraków, Ruch Chorzów, Legia Warsaw and Lechia Gdańsk. The 1927 Liga was the 7th edition of the Polish Football Championship (6th completed season ended with the selection of a winner) and the 1st season of the Liga (now ), the top Polish professional league for association football clubs. The league was operated by the ''Polska Liga Piłki Nożnej'' (PLPN). The champions were Wisła Kraków, who won their 1st Polish title.
