Eden Township, Alameda County, California
Eden Township is a former township of Alameda County, California in the San Francisco Bay Area region, which includes the present-day cities of Hayward and San Leandro, as well as the unincorporated census-designated areas of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, and San Lorenzo. It was created from a group of Mexican land grants that were added to Alameda County when the county was established in 1853. Today there are several public and private agencies serving the region. History The area of Eden Township comprises five land grants given by the Mexican government: Sobrante Rancho, Rancho San Leandro (given to José Joaquín Estudillo), Rancho San Lorenzo, (given to Guillermo Castro), Rancho San Lorenzito (given to Francisco and Barbara Soto), and Rancho Arroyo de la Alameda (given to José de Jesús Vallejo). Eden Township is a township in southeastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 2,248. It is part of the Solanco School District. History Eden Township was named for the furnace at Mount Eden. What is now Eden Township was part of Sadsbury, Chester County before the formation of Lancaster County. In 1744, Sadsbury Township was split into two; the western part was organized as Bart Township and the eastern part remained Sadsbury Township. In 1854, Bart Township was split into two, with the western part organized as Eden Township, and the eastern part remaining Bart Township. Eden Township is a civil township of Lake County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 377 at the 2000 census. Communities *Ferndale was the name of a post office in this township from 1884 until 1885. * Irons is an unincorporated community in the northeast part of the township at near the boundary with Elk Township. In 1894 it was a station on the Chicago and West Michigan Railway (later the Pere Marquette Railway). It was platted in about 1909 by A. Glen Haslett and G.E. Hilderbrand. It was named for the Irons family, who were early settlers. A post office was established in July 1910.
