Leon Edel
Joseph Leon Edel (1907 – 1997) was an American/Canadian literary critic and biographer. He was the elder brother of North American philosopher Abraham Edel. The ''Encyclopædia Britannica'' calls Edel "the foremost 20th-century authority on the life and works of Henry James." His work on James won him both a National Book Award and a Pulitzer Prize. Life and career Edel was born on 9 September 1907 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Fannie (Malamud) and Simon Edel. Edel grew up in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He attended McGill University and the University of Paris. While at the former he was associated with the Montreal Group of modernist writers, which included F.R. Scott and A.J.M. Smith, and with them founded the influential ''McGill Fortnightly Review''. Edel Paragliders was a South Korean aircraft manufacturer based in Gwangju and headed by Sung Heon Song. Edel Hætta Eriksen
Edel Hætta Eriksen (17 October 1921 – 13 August 2023) was a Norwegian politician and Northern Saami schoolteacher. Biography Edel Hætta Eriksen was born in Guovdageainnu Municipality on 17 October 1921, to Klemet Klemetsen Hætta and midwife Berit Karen Olsdatter Erke. In 1949, she married Hagbart Andor Eriksen. She graduated from teaching schools in Nesna and Tromsø, specializing in duodji and Saami, and went on to work as a schoolteacher in Kautokeino from 1949 to 1969, and as headmaster from 1969 to 1977. Hætta Eriksen served as the first director of , from 1977 to 1989. She was a board member of the Norwegian Sami Association from 1968 to 1975, a member of the Saami Council from 1956 to 1963 and from 1974 to 1977, and a member of the Arts Council Norway. Abraham Edel
Abraham Edel (6 December 1908 – 22 June 2007) was a North American philosopher and ethics, ethicist. He was the younger brother of the North American literary critic and biographer Leon Edel, and the uncle of the composer Joel Mandelbaum. He was married three times; his first two wives were fellow academics and co-authors, the anthropologist May Mandelbaum Edel, the philosopher Elizabeth Flower, and Sima Szaluta respectively. He had two children Deborah Edel, a founder of the Lesbian Herstory Archives, and Matthew David Edel, Matthew Edel, an Economist. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he grew up in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Edel attended McGill University, Oxford University and Columbia University.
