A hypocorism ( or ; from Ancient Greek ; sometimes also ''hypocoristic''), or pet name, is a name used to show affection for a person. Ed Conroy (politician)
Roy Edward Conroy (October 21, 1946 – June 26, 2020) was a Canadian politician who served as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Rossland-Trail in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of British Columbia from 1991 to 2001. He was a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP). Conroy was born in Rossland, British Columbia and raised in Castlegar, British Columbia, Castlegar, where he attended Stanley Humphries Secondary School and Selkirk College. He studied political science and philosophy at the University of Victoria, then moved back to the Kootenays, briefly working at a pulp mill before getting hired by a saw mill to work on a towboat. Edward M. Green (January 1860 – November 1, 1912) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the Philadelphia Athletics (American Association), Philadelphia Athletics of the American Association (19th century), American Association during the 1890 season. Green began his professional career with in 1884 with Chambersburg Maroons, Chambersburg and York White Roses, York. His most productive years in the minors may have been in 1886, 1888 and 1889 when he pitched at least 184 innings each season. He had an earned run average under 2.69 for each of the three seasons as well. Green only played one season (1890) in the major leagues. His final two years (1891 and 1892) were spent in the minor leagues. Eduard Franciscus "Ed" de Goeij (; born 20 December 1966), anglicised to de Goey, is a Dutch former professional football goalkeeper. In a 20-year career, he played for Sparta Rotterdam, Feyenoord, Chelsea, Stoke City and Ilkeston Town FC. He played 31 times for the Netherlands national team. Club career De Goey signed for Feyenoord in 1990 and stayed there for seven years. During his time in Rotterdam, he missed a total of just eight games and won one Eredivisie title (in 1993) and four KNVB Cups in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995. Edwin "Ed" Samson Friendly Jr. (April 8, 1922 – June 17, 2007) was an American television producer. He was responsible for creating the television programs ''Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In'', ''Little House on the Prairie'', and ''Backstairs at the White House''.
