The economy of the Province of Cebu is the 2nd largest in the Philippines according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. In 2021, the Cebuano's combined economy peaked at P869.9 billion, making it the 2nd largest in the nation next to Laguna P922.3. According to COA, Cebu has been currently reigning as one of the most populous province and the most richest province in the region for 8 consecutive times. Ceboom "Ceboom" is a combination of the term ''Cebu'' and ''boom.'' It is primarily described the province's rapid economical development in 1990. Before the event of Ceboom, Cebu was primarily crossed by Typhoon Mike. It damaged thousands of houses in Cordova and leaving ships sinking. After the incident, renovation and construction were started and two major shopping companies opened in Cebu, ShoeMart or SM (now as SMPH) and Ayala opened that period. Ceboom
Ceboom (sometimes spelled in all caps) is a portmanteau of "Cebu" and "boom", and has been used to refer to the rapid economic development of Cebu from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. Marcelo Fernan Bridge
The Marcelo Fernan Bridge, also known as the Second Cebu–Mactan Bridge and locally as the Second Bridge, is an extradosed cable-stayed bridge located in Metro Cebu in the Philippines. It crosses the Mactan Channel, connecting Mandaue in mainland Cebu to Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island. It is currently the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines after the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway, which also crosses the Mactan Channel. Typhoon Mike, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Ruping, of 1990 was the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines since Typhoon Irma in 1981 and Typhoon Nina in 1987. Forming from an area of persistent convection over the Caroline Islands, Mike was first designated on November 6, 1990 and moved generally westward. Later that day, the depression strengthened to Tropical Storm Mike near Yap. Mike became a typhoon early on November 9, and subsequently entered a period of rapid deepening.
