Eastern And African Cold Storage Supply Company
The Eastern and African Cold Storage Supply Co. Ltd. was an Anglo-Australian consortium that existed in the early 1900s which was involved in the commercial business of mass production and cold storage of beef. It was based in London and South Australia, with much of its cattle-raising operations being located on the massive ''Arafura'' cattle station in the Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory. The Company remains known today due to its ruthless policy of employing armed gangs to patrol the company's land and shoot on sight any of the resident Aboriginal Australians that they encountered. John Cockburn (Australian Politician)
Sir John Alexander Cockburn (23 August 185026 November 1929) was Premier of South Australia from 27 June 1889 to 18 August 1890. Early life Cockburn was born in Corsbie, Berwickshire, Scotland, in 1850 to Thomas Cockburn, farmer, and his wife Isabella, née Wright. His father died in France in 1855, and his mother migrated to South Australia in 1867 with three of the four children. William Acton Blakeway Adams (1843 – 24 January 1924), known as Acton Adams, was a 19th-century Member of Parliament from Nelson, New Zealand. Early life Adams was born at Wilden Manor, Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, England, in 1843. Elsey Station
Elsey Station is a pastoral lease that once operated as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Its traditional owners are the Mangarrayi people, whose rights were upheld by the Elsey Land Claim granted in 1997. The property is owned by the Mangarrayi Aboriginal Land Trust. The station is situated about east of Mataranka and north of Larrimah and the Roper River, and many of its tributary creeks run through the property. The land is about 10% flood plain, 15% black soil country, 60% red sandy country and 15% ridge country. It occupies an area of , of which is fenced.
