Comes A Time
''Comes a Time'' is the ninth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, released by Reprise Records in October 1978. Its songs are written as moralizing discourses on love's failures and recovering from worldly troubles. They are largely performed in a quiet folk and country mode, featuring backing harmonies sung by Nicolette Larson and additional accompaniment on some songs by Crazy Horse. Production The album originally started out as a solo record, but when Young played it for Reprise executives they asked him if he would consider adding rhythm tracks to what he already had. Young agreed, and the end product was ''Comes a Time''. Much of the album features harmony vocals from Nicolette Larson, who also shares lead vocals with Young on "Motorcycle Mama". Two songs on the album, "Look Out for My Love" and "Lotta Love", featured Young's long-time backing band, Crazy Horse. Another song, "Human Highway", was written several years prior to the album's release, and ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

On The Beach (Neil Young Album)
''On the Beach'' is the 5th studio album by Canadian-American musician Neil Young, released by Reprise Records in July 1974. The album is the second of the so-called "Ditch Trilogy" of albums that Young recorded following the major success of 1972's ''Harvest'', whereupon the scope of his success and acclaim became apparent; Young subsequently experienced alienation, and ''On the Beach'' was inspired by his feelings of retreat and melancholy stemming from it. ''On the Beach'' is a folk rock album exploring themes of anger, alienation, nihilism and cautious optimism. Looking back on the album for the liner notes to the ''Decade'' box set, Young wrote that the experience of releasing ''Harvest'', which inspired the despaired themes of ''On the Beach'', "put me in the middle of the road. Traveling there soon became a bore, so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I saw more interesting people there." As well as its release on vinyl, ''On the Beach'' was also released on casset ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Sleeps With Angels
''Sleeps with Angels'' is the 20th studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released on August 16, 1994, on Reprise as a double LP and as a single CD. Co-produced by David Briggs, the album is Young's seventh with Crazy Horse. Background and recording The album was conceived as a conscious attempt to recapture some of the atmospheric experiments Young and Crazy Horse played around with in the ''After the Gold Rush'' era. Although the majority of the album was recorded before the fact, Young created the title track after the suicide of Kurt Cobain, who quoted him in his suicide note. Two songs ("Western Hero" and "Train of Love") feature the same music with differing lyrics. "Safeway Cart" is featured on the soundtrack during a marching sequence in Claire Denis's 1999 film '' Beau Travail''. ''Sleeps with Angels'' is the only Neil Young album on which he plays the flute. Track listing All tracks were written by Neil Young, except "Blue Eden", written by Young, Ralph Molin ... The Monsanto Years
''The Monsanto Years'' is a studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young and the American rock group Promise of the Real, released on June 29, 2015 on Reprise Records. A concept album which criticizes the agribusiness company Monsanto, it is Young's thirty-fifth studio album and the third by Promise of the Real. The album was produced by both Young and John Hanlon, and is accompanied by a film documenting the recording process. Recording and release Young had a long-time friendship with Willie Nelson and his sons, Lukas and Micah and jammed with Lukas' bandmates in Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real after 2014's Farm Aid. Ragged Glory
''Ragged Glory'' is the 18th studio album by Canadian / American singer-songwriter Neil Young, and his sixth album with the band Crazy Horse. It was released by Reprise Records on September 9, 1990. Recording The ''Ragged Glory'' sessions took place in April 1990 at Young's Broken Arrow Ranch. The band played a set of songs twice a day for a couple of weeks (never repeating the same songs in a set), then went back, listened and chose the best takes. According to Young, this approach "took 'analysis' out of the game during the sessions, allowing the Horse to not think". Music and lyrics The album revisits the heavy rock style previously explored on ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'' and '' Zuma''. The first two tracks, "Country Home" and "White Line" are songs Young and Crazy Horse originally wrote and performed live in the 1970s (the original recording of "White Line", made for an aborted '' Homegrown'' album, would finally see release in 2020). Freedom (Neil Young Album)
''Freedom'' is the 17th studio album by Canadian-American musician Neil Young, released on October 2, 1989. ''Freedom'' relaunched Young's career after a largely unsuccessful decade. After many arguments and a lawsuit, Young left Geffen Records in 1988 and returned to his original label, Reprise, with ''This Note's for You''. ''Freedom'' brought about a new, critical and commercially successful album. It was released in the United States as an LP record, cassette tape, and CD in 1989. Production Very different recording sessions made for a very eclectic album. Three songs ("Don't Cry," "Eldorado" and "On Broadway") had previously been released on the Japan and Australia-only EP '' Eldorado''. Two other songs ("Crime in the City" and "Someday") had been recorded in 1988 with the rhythm-and-blues-oriented Bluenotes band from Young's previous album, ''This Note's for You''. Young explains the wide array of music in the album thus: "I knew that I wanted to make a real album that ex ... Farm Aid
Farm Aid is an annual benefit concert held for American farmers. History On July 13, 1985, while performing at the Live Aid benefit concert for the 1983–1985 Ethiopian famine, Bob Dylan made comments about family farmers within the United States in danger of losing their farms through mortgage debt, saying to the worldwide audience exceeding one billion people, "I hope that some of the money ... maybe they can just take a little bit of it, maybe ... one or two million, maybe ... and use it, say, to pay the mortgages on some of the farms and, the farmers here, owe to the banks." He is often misquoted, as on Farm Aid's official website, as saying "Wouldn't it be great if we did something for our own farmers right here in America?" Although his comments were heavily criticised, they inspired fellow musicians Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young to organise the Farm Aid benefit concert to raise money for and help family farmers in the United States.
