ECFS (cable System)
ECFS (East Caribbean Fiber System) is a network of repeaterless fiber optic submarine communications cable that interconnects fourteen (14) eastern Caribbean islands. The cable is 1730 km (1075 mi) in length and runs from the British Virgin Islands to Trinidad in ten (10) segments. It was first installed in September 1995 and was scheduled to be upgraded bXtera Communicationsas of April 25, 2013. Montserrat
Montserrat ( , ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. Montserrat is about long and wide, with roughly of coastline. It is nicknamed "The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean" both for its resemblance to coastal Ireland and for the Irish diaspora, Irish ancestry of many of its inhabitants. LIME, an acronym for 'Landline, Internet, Mobile, Entertainment', was a communications provider owned by the British based Cable & Wireless Communications for its operations in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean. The company formed from the integrated businesses of Cable & Wireless in the Caribbean which adopted the LIME name on 3 November 2008. LIME operated as the native, incumbent telecommunications service provider in many of the islands where they reside. Saint Vincent is a volcanic island in the Caribbean. It is the largest island of the country Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and is located in the Caribbean Sea, between Saint Lucia and Grenada. It is composed of partially submerged volcanic mountains. Its largest volcano and the country's highest peak, Soufrière (volcano), La Soufrière, is active, with the latest episode of volcanic activity having begun in December 2020 and intensifying in April 2021.
