E! (Asian TV Channel)
E! was a high-definition entertainment channel, owned by NBCUniversal International Networks. It was officially launched in Asia on 30 November 1997 with Hallmark Channel Asia, later known as Diva. For the most part outside of a few local programmes, it mainly carried programmes from the American E! network with dubbing or subtitling where appropriate. History E! Asia was officially launched on 30 November 1997 as Singaporean 24-hour English pay television channel. It was broadcast from Singapore and aired throughout Southeast Asia. E! E! was an Australian and New Zealand pay television channel, owned by NBCUniversal International Networks. Much like its American counterpart it featured entertainment-related programming, reality television and Hollywood news. It was available, at the time of closure, through the Foxtel and FetchTV platforms in Australia. It was available on the Sky platform in New Zealand, from April 2002 until 15 January 2023. It was also available on the Austar service prior to 2012. In 2014, it became available on Australian streaming service Foxtel Play. NBCUIN signed a content agreement with Seven West Media in the Australian spring of 2022, which includes the launch of a new terrestrial channel, 7Bravo on 15 January 2023, that now includes E! content; with this, the previous content agreement with Foxtel was not renewed, and E! closed at 5:59a.m. local time on 1 February 2023, which is considered the last minute of the 31 January broadcast day. The first incarnation of E!, also referred to as E! Entertainment Television, was a Canadian English language privately owned television system that existed from 2001 to 2009 under the ownership of Canwest. At its peak it consisted of eight local television stations located in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, including five stations owned-and-operated station, owned and operated (O&O) by Canwest and three network affiliate, affiliates owned by Jim Pattison Group. The system was launched in 2001 as CH Television or CH (derived from the call sign of flagship CHCH-TV in Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton), providing a secondary schedule parallel to Canwest's larger Global Television Network. It initially focused on airing programs from the U.S. broadcast networks that could not fit on Global's own schedule, in order to avail of simultaneous substitution opportunities. SBS FunE (stylised SBS funE, formerly UTV, E! and SBS E!) is a South Korean cable and satellite television channel owned by SBS. Launched as UTV on August 16, 2005, it became E! on January 1, 2009 after an agreement between SBS and Comcast on September 5, 2008. Using the E! brand under license from Comcast, its programming consisted of mostly those from E! U.S., but also carried programs from the South Korean counterpart, as well as the libraries of SBS. Number of programs from E! have been dropped since then. The channel officially renamed to SBS E! on November 1, 2011, retaining only the red E! logo.
