''Driver'' is the third full-length studio album by American bedroom pop act Adult Mom, released by Epitaph Records on March 5, 2021. Reception ''Driver'' received positive reviews from critics noted at review aggregator Metacritic. It has a weighted average score of 80 out of 100, based on four reviews. Writing for Pitchfork Media, Sophia June gave this album a 7.3 out of 10 for "layered arrangements and a renewed sense of confidence" with "lyrics so honest they border on awkward" and "a knack for storytelling that feels real". Adult Mom
Adult Mom is an indie rock band founded by musician Stevie Knipe. Initially a solo project, Adult Mom has now expanded into a full band including guitarist Allegra Eidinger and drummer Olivia Battell. They have released three full-length albums and multiple EPs, most recently 2021’s ''Driver'' on Epitaph Records. Career Adult Mom began in 2012 in Stevie Knipe's bedroom, where they recorded an EP and released on Bandcamp titled ''Bedroom Recordings''. Knipe attended State University of New York at Purchase, where they studied anthropology and began writing music. The following year, Knipe released two EP's, one titled ''bstmommy'' and the other titled "Mom's Day". In August 2014, Knipe released a mini-album titled ''i fell in love by accident''. Roland TR-808
The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, commonly known as the 808, is a drum machine manufactured by the Roland Corporation between 1980 and 1983. It was one of the first drum machines to allow users to program rhythms instead of using preset patterns. Unlike its nearest competitor at the time, the more expensive Linn LM-1, the 808 generates sounds using analog synthesis rather than by playing samples (prerecorded sounds). Launched when electronic music had yet to become mainstream, the 808 received mixed reviews for its unrealistic drum sounds and was a commercial failure. A broken chord is a chord broken into a sequence of notes. A broken chord may repeat some of the notes from the chord and span one or more octaves. The pedal steel guitar is a console-type of steel guitar with pedals and knee levers that change the pitch of certain strings to enable playing more varied and complex music than any previous steel guitar design. Like all steel guitars, it can play unlimited glissandi (sliding notes) and deep vibrati—characteristics it shares with the human voice. Pedal steel is most commonly associated with American country music and Hawaiian music. Pedals were added to a lap steel guitar in 1940, allowing the performer to play a major scale without moving the bar and also to push the pedals while striking a chord, making passing notes slur or bend up into harmony with existing notes.
