Dressed To Kill (song)
"Dressed to Kill" is a 2009 song by Preston, most notably covered by Cher in 2013. Preston's original was released as a single in the UK from his ''Whatever Forever'' LP. The song samples the introduction from Siouxsie and the Banshees' 1980 single " Happy House." "Dressed to Kill" was Preston's only single release during the almost four-year hiatus of The Ordinary Boys. The song, however, failed to chart. Because of the failure of the lead single, the album was subsequently shelved by the label. The song was produced by Mark Taylor, who had also produced Cher's megahit, "Believe." While producing her comeback album, Taylor decided to recycle "Dressed to Kill," which he had co-written with Preston. Samuel Dylan Murray Preston (born 16 January 1982), more commonly known simply as Preston, is an English singer in the band the Ordinary Boys. He also appeared in the reality television show ''Celebrity Big Brother'' in 2006, in which he finished fourth. After the Ordinary Boys split in 2008, he embarked on a songwriting career. In 2013, he officially reunited the Ordinary Boys and in 2015 they released their self-titled comeback album. Early life Samuel Preston was born in Worthing, West Sussex. "Believe" is a song by American entertainer Cher from her twenty-second studio album of the same name (1998). It was released as the album's lead single on October 19, 1998 by Warner Bros. Records. After circulating for months, a demo written by Brian Higgins, Matthew Gray, Stuart McLennen and Timothy Powell, was submit to Warner's chairman Rob Dickins, while he was scouting for songs to include on Cher's new album. Aside from the chorus, Dickins was not impressed by the track so he enlisted two more writers, Steve Torch and Paul Barry in order to complete it. Recording took place at Dreamhouse Studio in West London, while production was in charge of Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling. The Dressed to Kill Tour was the sixth solo concert tour by American singer-actress Cher. Launched in support of her twenty-fifth studio album, ''Closer to the Truth'' (2013), it started in Phoenix, Arizona on March 22, 2014 and continued across North America before coming to a close in San Diego on July 11, 2014. The tour has received mostly positive reception from critics, who praised Cher's vocal performance as well as the several costumes and show elements. The Ordinary Boys
The Ordinary Boys are an English indie rock band from Worthing, West Sussex. Originally a hardcore outfit named Next in Line, they are influenced by punk rock and Britpop music, as well as the bands the Clash, the Specials, the Jam, the Kinks and the Smiths. Their name derives from a Morrissey song, "The Ordinary Boys". The membership of the band that originally split up in 2008 consisted of founding members Samuel Preston (vocals, rhythm guitar) – generally known simply by his surname "Preston", William Brown (lead guitar), James Gregory (bass), plus Simon Goldring (drums) who had replaced Charlie "Chuck" Stanley in 2005. Happy House
"Happy House" is a song written by Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin and recorded by their band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It was released as a single in March 1980 by record label Polydor, then later included on the band's third album, ''Kaleidoscope''. "Happy House" was the group's first record made with guitarist John McGeoch and drummer Budgie. Background and recording "Happy House" and the ''Kaleidoscope'' album marked a change in musical direction for Siouxsie and the Banshees due to the arrival of two new musicians: drummer Budgie, previously of the Slits, and guitarist John McGeoch, previously of Magazine.
