Dream Of A Summer Night
''Dream of a Summer Night'' ( it, Sogno di una notte d'estate, also spelled as ''Dream of a Summer's Night'') is a 1983 Italian musical film written and directed by Gabriele Salvatores, at his directorial debut. Based on a rock musical directed by the same Salvatores, it is a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's '' A Midsummer Night's Dream''. It was screened in the "De Sica" section at the 40th edition of the Venice International Film Festival. Plot The wedding day of Teseo and Ippolita, two young heirs of the Milanese bourgeoisie, is near. Everything has been arranged: the party will take place in the splendid family villa in the Lombard plain. Among the guests there are Lisandro, Demetrio, Erminia and Elena, inseparable and involved in a strange relationship made of impulses, tenderness and whims. Gabriele Salvatores
Gabriele Salvatores (born 30 July 1950) is an Italian Academy Award-winning film director and screenwriter. Biography Born in Naples, Salvatores debuted as a theatre director in 1972, founding in Milan the Teatro dell'Elfo, for which he directed several avant-garde pieces until 1989. In that year, he directed his third feature film, '' Marrakech Express'', which was followed in 1990 by ''Turné''. Both films shared a group of actor-friends, including Diego Abatantuono and Fabrizio Bentivoglio, who will be present in many of his later movies. ''Turné'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. In 1991, Salvatores received international praise for '' Mediterraneo'', which won an Academy Award as best foreign film. Giuseppe Cederna (born 25 June 1957) is an Italian actor and author. Life and career Born in Rome, the son of the journalist and politician Antonio Cederna and nephew of the writer and journalist Camilla Cederna, from his youth Cederna was attracted by the profession of mime and clown, and after several theatrical experiences in 1977 he founded the company Anfeclown.
