Doscher's Candies is an American candy manufacturer, and the oldest producer of candy canes in the United States. It is known for being the oldest continually operating candy company in America. In 1871, Claus Doescher manufactured their first handcrafted candy cane in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company is also widely known for its taffy product, the French Chew, which was introduced in 1896. History In 1871, immigrant brothers Claus, John and Heinrich Doescher left their uncle's confectionery in Cincinnati, Ohio to start their own firm there, on Fifth Street between Broadway and Sycamore, forming the Doscher Brothers candy company. Caramel corn or caramel popcorn (toffee popcorn in the UK) is a confection made of popcorn coated with a sugar or molasses based caramel candy shell that is normally less than 1mm thick. Necco (or NECCO ) was an American manufacturer of candy created in 1901 as the New England Confectionery Company through the merger of several small confectionery companies located in the Greater Boston area, with ancestral companies dating back to the 1840s.
