Dontae' Jones
Dontae' Antijuaine Jones (born June 2, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player, formerly of the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jones played college basketball at Northeast Mississippi Community College where he is the Tigers' all-time leading scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker. His #32 jersey has been retired by the school. After playing two seasons for the Tigers he transferred to Mississippi State University to finish his college career. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 1996 SEC men's basketball tournament after leading Mississippi State to their first SEC Tournament championship by virtue of a win over top-ranked University of Kentucky in the SEC tournament championship game. That same season he led Mississippi State to the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, picking up a Regional MVP honor along the way. John Thomas (basketball)
John Thomas (born September 8, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player. He was the captain of the Minnesota Golden Gophers team that advanced to the 1997 NCAA Semi-Final. Selected by the New York Knicks with the 25th pick in the 1997 NBA Draft although he never played a game with them as he was traded, along with Dontae' Jones, Walter McCarty and Scott Brooks to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Chris Mills and two conditional second-round draft choices on October 22, 1997. Four months later, he was again traded, this time to the Toronto Raptors, alongside Chauncey Billups, Dee Brown and Roy Rogers, for Kenny Anderson, Zan Tabak and Popeye Jones. He signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Timberwolves in October 2004, appearing in 44 games over the course of the entire season. Walter McCarty
Walter Lee McCarty (born February 1, 1974) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. McCarty played for the NBA's New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Clippers. He last served as head coach of the Evansville Purple Aces. Early life and college career McCarty was born in Evansville, Indiana. He played at William Henry Harrison High School, and as a senior in 1992 led his team to the Evansville II sectional championship and was named to the Indiana All Star Team. McCarty played college basketball at the University of Kentucky where he was a part of the team that won the NCAA championship in 1996. The 1996 NBA draft was the 50th draft in the National Basketball Association (NBA). It was held on June 26, 1996 at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Jackson, Mississippi. The hall of fame was established in 1961 and is currently located in a museum that displays the achievements of Mississippi athletes. The museum opened on July 4, 1996. It is opposite the Smith-Wills Stadium, former home of several minor-league baseball teams. SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The SEC men's basketball tournament is the conference tournament in basketball for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is a single-elimination tournament that involves all league schools (currently 14). Its seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament, however the official conference championship is awarded to the team or teams with the best regular season record.
