Donnelly Dome
Donnelly Dome is a summit located west of the Richardson Highway, 18 miles south of Delta Junction, Alaska. The name was established in the 1920s and derived from nearby Donnelly, Alaska, then a telegraph station. Prior to that time it was called "Delta Dome", named after the Delta River. Donnelly Dome was formed through glaciation that occurred 70,000 to 100,000 years ago. It was completely covered by the glaciers, and was considered a fleigberg, or a mountain covered in ice. The area around Donnelly Dome is owned by the United States Army as part of the Donnelly Training Area of Fort Wainwright Fort Wainwright is a United States Army installation in Fairbanks, Alaska. Richardson Highway
The Richardson Highway is a highway in the U.S. state of Alaska, running 368 miles (562 km) and connecting Valdez to Fairbanks. It is marked as Alaska Route 4 from Valdez to Delta Junction and as Alaska Route 2 from there to Fairbanks. It also connects segments of Alaska Route 1 between the Glenn Highway and the Tok Cut-Off. The Richardson Highway was the first major road built in Alaska. Delta Junction, Alaska
Delta Junction ( uk, Делта-Джанкшен, Delta Dzhankshen) is a city in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 958, up from 840 in 2000. The 2018 estimate was down to 931. The city is located a short distance south of the confluence of the Delta River with the Tanana River, which is at Big Delta. It is about south of Fairbanks. Donnelly is an unincorporated community in Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska, United States. Its elevation is 1,785 feet (544 m). Delta River
The Delta River is an tributary of the Tanana River in the U.S. state of Alaska. Its name in the Ahtna language is ''Saas Na’ ''. Fort Wainwright is a United States Army installation in Fairbanks, Alaska. Fort Wainwright is part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the coterminous Fairbanks Metropolitan Statistical Area.
